Under the Stars

Under the Stars
Bright Lights Duet 2
Tia Louise

All around us was darkness and night…

I’m not a hero. I’m a survivor.
I had one way out, and I took it.
Now all I want is peace,
A place to pick up the pieces and start over.

But she wants justice.
Names on a list, faces in the crowd.
I vowed to help her, but it’s taking us back to the demons.
Until he appeared.

I thought he died in the fight.
I was wrong.
He’s here.
Stronger, more powerful… Sexier.

And dangerous.

The boy I loved is now the one man we have to fear most.
When he tried to save me, he had no power.
Now everything has changed, and he’ll never stop until I’m his.

I've been dying for this book after reading Under the Lights and Sundown (Sundown is a novella). Mark and Lara's story is just so good. There story is sweet and light it's dark and full of hard times. There relationship as been up and down. They want to protect each other and be with each other but sometimes it's just not that easy. Under the Stars just shows how much they have both grown and how there relationships can stand just about anything.

Lara is so strong in this book. Even when she wants something for herself she will leave it to do whatever her and Molly have set out to do. I didn't really understand why she would do this in parts of the book. I know her life her Molly is so deep and it alway well. Molly is like a sister best friend and even daughter in some respect. Lara can't help but be protective of her they have been through so much together and she has put herself in dangerous situation for Molly. But Lara needs to start thinking about herself and her fortune. I can understand there revenge people did need to pay for what they had done but it ran a lot more deeper for Molly than Lara. I felt a lil sorry for Lara she needed to think of herself and Mark but needed to help Molly as well.

Mark is just an all round great guy. Plus he is just super sexy there much this guy can't do. The love he as for Lara is just so strong. Even when he finds out thing that Lara as done he doesn't care she is the love of his life. She can run from him and be stubborn but he will alway find her and deal with anything that's going to make there life hard. I even thing he has love for Molly the easy he helps them is just amazing. His career could be on the line with helping them but he doesn't care he is always a step ahead. He really can't do anything wrong in my eyes I just love his character.

This duet is amazing. It has had me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole thing. I read this book so quick Mark and Lara's story is so good. They have been through so much together the ups and downs have been hard. They have been battered and bruised but they still find each other and come out stronger together. I highly recommend this book. This author is one of my favourites her books just keep getting better and better. I can't get enough of her book. I m dying for Molly's story I know it's going to be just had good as this.

Bad For You

BAD FOR YOU
A Dirty Deeds Novel
BY J.Daniels
Release Day: January 23, 2018

He didn't want to be bad. He just didn't have a choice...

Shayla Perkins isn't the kind of girl who makes the same mistake twice, especially when it comes to Sean "Stitch" Molina. So when he gives her the world's biggest rejection, that's it--she's done. Until the sexy, silent, unavailable Sean makes Shay a very personal offer. Of course, it still doesn't mean he's interested in her. Or does it?

Sean has done things in life. Bad things. And he's paid the price. All he wants now is to make up for his past by doing good in the present. And no one deserves more good than Shay. Beautiful on the inside and out, Shay is the kind of woman who should be cared for and protected--especially from a man like Sean. He's tried to keep his feelings for her in check, but a single, reckless impulse pulls them closer than ever before.

Soon the two are sharing their biggest dreams and satisfying their deepest desires. But what will happen if the only way to truly give each other what they want most...is to let each other go?

Bad For You was actually a lot more emotional than I went into it thinking it would be. I ended up really liking that it was so heartwarming though and it had me feeling very protective over Sean.

There were so many moments in the book that had me sobbing and just cursing the world for being so cruel to such a wonderful character. Sean really held my heart throughout this book and learning everything he went through had me very passionate about his character. It also brought me a lot closer to Shayla when I saw how protective she was over Sean.

These two just held onto my heart all throughout their story and I loved both of them. They were truly perfect together and I was rooting Shayla on whenever she was there to help Sean realize he was worth a lot more than he thought.

The bottom line is that this was a brilliant story full of some very touching moments that had me balling like a baby. And I have no shame in admitting that because those tears led to a very loving ending that I will be reading many more times in the future.

It should have been easy.

I needed the money. He needed a babysitter to keep him from snorting himself to death.

I was cherry-picked especially for him. Responsible. Optimistic. Warm. Innocent.

The worst part is that I should have known better.

Alex Winslow. British rock star. Serial heartbreaker. Casanova with whiskey eyes.

“Don’t get near the devil in a leather jacket. He’ll chew you up and spit you out.”

Sounds familiar? That’s because it was a headline in a tabloid the second time he got arrested.

Guess what? I didn’t listen.

I signed the contract.

World tour. Three months. Four Continents. One hundred shows.

My name is Indigo Bellamy, and I sold my soul to a tattooed god.

Problem was, my soul wasn’t enough for Alex Winslow. He ended up taking my body, too.

Then he took my heart.

Then he took my all.

Ryan's Bed

Ryan's Bed
Tijan
January 22, 2018

I crawled into Ryan Jensen’s bed that first night by accident.

I barely knew him. I thought it was his sister’s bed—her room. It took seconds to realize my error, and I should've left...

I didn’t.
I didn’t jump out.
I didn’t get embarrassed.
I relaxed.
And that night, in that moment, it was the only thing I craved.

I asked to stay. He let me, and I slept.

The truth? I never wanted to leave his bed. If I could've stayed forever, I would have.
He became my sanctuary.

Because—four hours earlier—my twin sister killed herself.

I'm already a big fan of Tijan's books but this story blew me out of the water and quickly became my favorite from the author. I have full respect for someone who can write a story about a subject most others would glance over or try to romanticize without writing the full effect of it. Suicide is not pretty, but it can't be ignored and I'm so happy there are authors out there like Tijan that aren't afraid to delve into that topic.

Reading this book shows you that suicide does not end with someones death, it then lives on in those that loved that person. We're introduced to MacKenzie on her 18th birthday, the same night her twin sister committed suicide. It's also the night she meet's Ryan, after accidentally crawling into his bed instead of his sister's. Ryan becomes her safe place, the one person that seems to understand what she's going through. Through her last year of High School, she's without her twin, but Ryan is there to help her find her way.

This book had me bawling my eyes out at the weirdest times, and I feel like that speaks to just how real it was. The author didn't just fill the book with noticeably sad moments with MacKenzie and her family. Instead it showed the steps to her healing after such a tragic thing in her life where even at moments you would read and think, "oh she's finally getting out of the house" you will actually read and feel how painful it was for MacKenzie to try and move on with her life.

The book is a romance, I'm not going to deny that, but it was so much more than that which is why I've pretty much rambled on this whole review about nothing more than the brilliant writing. Ryan and MacKenzie had more than just a High School romance for me, they were that couple that proves even though suicide is not pretty, as I stated above, for the survivors it can still lead to a beautiful life.

GOODREADS

Hidden Seams was a brilliant story with many different sides to it. The main focus was, of course, the romance between Marco and Avery but then there was also the part of Avery trying to find out who she was, and Marco's struggle to keep his best friends secret. it all came together really well and that was my best part of the story for me.

It's sounds crazy to say but these characters were better together because it was like they came alive with all of the chemistry between them. Separately they were great to get to know and they both had a lot going on in their personal lives, but when they were together it was like they had so much more energy and it made me like them a lot more.

The story was unique, I thought, since it's not everyday you read a straight man playing a gay man. Though I liked that the book wasn't full of drama because of that situation and instead it was all pretty light. I felt like that worked better with the characters and gave more space to see how they reacted to the connection they shared.

Lost For You is only my second book by this author but I'm really enjoying her writing style. She was able to get me very invested into these characters, and not once did I get bored with them. I could feel the connection between Chase and and Taryn easily and it had me rooting for them to get together for more than just a night.

I can't say that their relationship was easy, because it certainly had some low points, but those high ones came and made it all better. I just loved that they had so much pushing them apart, yet they were able to fight through those issues. Both characters had some big turning points in their personal life and I really liked that we got to see how they grew from those moments and I thought their character development was very well done.

Really the only thing that, for me, was a negative part of this book was Chase's drug addiction. I don't like reading about characters that do drugs so that was kind of hard for me to get past. The ending of the book though gave me some closure on that issue. Overall, definitely a book I would recommend to my fellow readers. It can certainly be read as a standalone, unless you're someone that gets too curious about secondary characters that have already had their story being mentioned.

Ace

Title: Ace
A Moonshine Task Force Series Novel
Author: Laramie Briscoe
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 12, 2018

Blurb

Ace is saving lives and mending hearts.......

Anthony “Ace” Bailey

I’m not a rules kinda guy

Department Policy? Kinda sucks, but I do what I have to for the job that I love.
Playing it safe? Not my thing.
Married? No big deal when I know she’s unhappy and scared.

I’m one of those guys – a sniper in the military, a little bit of an adrenaline junkie, and a member of the Moonshine Task Force. I’ve lived through some shit.

My gut has never failed me. It’s my sixth-sense. Warning me of a gunshot coming my way, of a traffic stop being potentially deadly, or the tingling in the back of my neck when I go to sleep telling me I’ll be woken up by a call in the middle of the night. My gut has always kept me honest.

Like the day I walked into The Café and saw the new waitress. There was a ring on her left hand, but I didn’t care. One look in her eyes told me everything I needed to know. Her marriage wasn’t one made of love and respect. It was one made of fear and doubt.

It’s why I ignored that ring, why I arrested her husband, and the reason I’m willing to take my time. Patience is a virtue, and with this woman, I have it in spades.

Violet Miller

Meeting Anthony Bailey changed my life. He did things that no one else has ever done for me.

Feeling safe? Never happened before.
Feeling wanted? It’s been years.
Being independent? I’m learning.

It’s foreign, not having someone question my every move, being able to eat what I want for dinner, and sitting out on my front porch talking to Anthony every night while we share a couple beers.

I try to tell myself he’s just being nice; that he’s doing his job and working within the community. The problem? The night he takes the kiss we both want, everything changes, and I can no longer deny what I feel. But it doesn’t stop me from trying – and I learn quickly that Ace knows me better than anyone else ever has – including myself.

All I can do is hang on, as he takes me on the scariest journey of my life. The one that bends us until we almost break, and ends with a happily ever after I never thought I would get.

ACE includes the wedding of a beloved couple, an appearance by Reaper, and the continuation of EVERYONE falling in love with Caleb!

I've been waiting for this book since the beginning of the series and Laramie Briscoe did not disappoint. Ace and Violet captured my heart with this story and I loved getting to see them heal together.

After her husband attacked her, Violet never thought she'd trust someone again. But from the second she was released from the hospital Ace was right there to hold her hand and help her get by. Their relationship was slow, but full of love, which was the best thing for them.

I don't typically like when there are time jumps in stories but for this book it worked perfectly with the story. We got to see Ace and Violet throughout the many hurdles they had to go over and seeing how they handled those together was what made this book brilliant. It was more about healing than about discovering their love for one another since there was no question that they were perfect for each other.

I definitely recommend this book, and series. This one can't really be read as a standalone since it opens up where the last one left off.

The Wright Secret

THE WRIGHT SECRET
K.A Linde
January 9, 2018

I was just his best friend’s little sister.
But he was always more than that to me.

After twelve years of pining over Patrick’s easy smile, baby blues, and captivating charm, I decide to take matters into my own hands—and completely blow my chance.

Who knew a self-proclaimed manwhore would decide to be a gentleman the first time I’m naked in his bed? Definitely, not me. But when I land there again, neither of us has any intention of stopping.
There’s only one problem: nobody can know. Especially not my three older brothers. If they found out, all hell would break loose.
So I’m willing to keep our secret. Because I want him Wright here, right now.

✦ Google Play → smarturl.it/GoogleTWSecret

The Wright Secret is hands down my favorite in this series that isn't a series. It follows Morgan Wright, new CEO of Wright Construction, and her brothers best friend, Patrick. That's right, this is a brothers-best-friend trope. *cue fangirling*

It doesn't happen often that I like the heroine of a novel more than I like the hero, but Morgan stole my heart in this book. I loved how she took her work so seriously and wouldn't let anyone keep her down or make her think she's not being good enough. As much as it sucks, being a woman in such a high position comes with people wanting to make your life ten times harder, but Morgan stood up to all of that and I really admired her.

And Patrick was right there to support her the entire time. Even though he comes second for me I still adored him and thought he and Morgan were perfect together. The forbidden aspect of their relationship in the beginning was my favorite part but I also loved them when they weren't sneaking around. They had an amazing connection that was prevalent from the very beginning and it was great to see how drawn to each other they were. It took Patrick a little longer to realize he didn't look at Morgan like just another sister, but when he did oh man was it hot.

Overall, this book is definitely a recommend. It can be read as a standalone, clearly since the Wright books aren't actually a series, but I think you'll find yourself curious about the other Wright's and the previous books are a big recommendation from me too.

Something So Irresistible

Max Horton

They call me an outcast like it's a bad thing.
An asshole byproduct of a shitty upbringing. I don't care about anything except myself and my little sister.
I will always protect what’s mine.
With one year left on my hockey contract I'm keeping my head down and my eyes on the goal.
A collision, with her, changes my entire existence.

Allison Grant
Never fall in love with a sports star. That's what my stepfather always said. He told me athletes are complicated and moody—that the higher their paycheck, the lower their morals.
As public relations for the New York Stingers I know exactly what he means, but I can’t seem to say no to a friendship with one beautiful, damaged man.
What started out as hate turned into something else.
We tried to stay away, to keep our distance, but the pull was too strong.
Something forbidden turned into something so irresistible.

I was a lil worried about this book but dying for it at the same time. I really didn't like Max in the last book. He was just so horrible and made Matthews life hell. So at the end when I found out it was goin to be Allison and Max's story I was shocked. But I have to ask it was really good I enjoy it so much. Allison is a great character and Max really did surprise me. Plus he's sexy that really helped.

Allison is the princess of her family. Even at 23 her dad and brother are so over protective over her it's crazy. I have to say it would annoy me so much. But she did deal with it well. She has the men in her life wrapped around her finger. She has worked hard to get where she is. So when a new jobs keep up as the new PR for the team she is shocked she is asked. But jumped at the chance it is just what she wanted. Even if she had to deal with Max Horton.

Max is a character there are parts where you luv him then you can hate him a second later. Like said I was worried about his character in this book. But I was so shocked he wasn't the guy I thought he would be. He's actually caring kind and luving in ways. He still has a smart mouth and can be a total pain in the butt. But overall it's like he has grew up in this book. No different women every nite or causing trouble he needs a good year. He need a new contract. It's just been made harder when the new PR is Allison Grant his enemies sister.

The love and hate relationship these to had was so good and really hot. The sexual chemistry was so high throughout this book. They just made a great couple even with the name calling and arguing. Max had it bad for Allison straight away. He started being protective straight away. It mite not of come across that way to her. I just really liked the banter for between them.

I did really enjoyed this book. But I found that I wanted a lil more at the end. I felt like the reaction to there relationship was cut a lil short. I wanted more of that. I was dying for that throughout the whole book and only really really got a few chapters of it. Don't get me wrong it was really good I just wanted more and I would recommend. I really liked the writing, story and I really luv the characters in this series there just great. Overall a great book.

I had no idea what to expect from this book. When you have a character like Max that was introduced as such a douche, it's hard to imagine him being able to be redeemed. But this book came in and proved that first impressions can be wrong and that a character isn't always what you think.

It didn't start out as an easy journey for these two but by the end I was completely in love with Max and Allison. Getting to know Max for who he really was, and how he was so sweet with Allison made this book my favorite of this series. There was some amazing tension between them that kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for them to finally stop ignoring that chemistry.

There's was actually more of a slow burn type of book since they made me wait so long to see them together, but I really liked that about the story. I felt like it kept everything realistic since they didn't just jump into a relationship after not liking each other much in the beginning. Plus seeing their friendship was just as entertaining as their relationship.

When her nose isn't buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she's in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It's a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn't listen to her...
