Release Date: February 11, 2019

WINTER
Sending him to prison was the worst thing I could’ve done. It didn’t matter that he did the crime or that I wished he was dead. Perhaps I thought I’d have time to disappear before he got out or he’d cool off in jail and be anything but the horror he was.
But I was wrong. Three years came and went too fast, and now he’s anything but calm. Prison only gave him time to plan.
And while I anticipated his vengeance, I didn’t expect this.
He doesn’t want to make me hurt. He wants to make everything hurt.

DAMON
First thing’s first. Get rid of her daddy. He told them I forced her. He told them his little girl was a victim, but I was a kid, too, and she wanted it just as much as I did.
Step two… Give her, her sister, and her mother nowhere to run and no fuel to escape. The Ashby women are alone now and desperate for a knight in shining armor.
But that’s not what’s coming.
No, it’s time I listened to my father and took control of my future. It’s time I showed them all—my family, her family, my friends—that I will never change and that I have no other ambition than to be the nightmare of their lives.
Starting with her.
She’ll be so scared, she won’t even be safe in her own head by the time I’m done with her. And the best part is I won’t have to break into her home to do it.
As the new man of the house I have all the keys.

Beautiful Sinner

Beautiful Sinner
Devil's Rock Book 5
Sophie Jordan
October 30, 2018

Locked in with the town bad boy . . .

Most women would be scared, but Gabriella’s only worried about resisting Cruz Walsh, who’s even hotter than he was back in high school. Cruz was wrongly accused of the high-profile crime for which he was imprisoned; Gabriella’s desperate for the scoop that will get her career off the ground and get her out of Sweet Hill, where everyone still remembers her as “Flabby Gabby.” Being stuck in a supply closet with Cruz is the perfect opportunity to land an interview. What Bri doesn’t count on is Cruz taking “up-close and personal” to a whole new level.

If there’s a silver lining to the hell Cruz went through, it’s that losing his freedom put everything in perspective. Maybe starting over someplace new would be easier, but after years locked up, Cruz values his family—and his true friends—more than ever. So he’s back home, facing the gossip, dodging reporters . . . and face-to-face with Gabriella Rossi. They’ve both changed: Bri wants a story and Cruz just wants her. Another thing he’s learned? Don’t let a good thing slip away.

Beautiful Sinner was my first book from Sophie Jordan, and my introduction tot he Devil's Rock series. I seem to have a habit of jumping into series without reading them in order, but this blurb really caught my attention and couldn't wait to catch up with the series to read it. Which I'm happy I didn't because I really enjoyed this book.

Gabby and Cruz both have a past that still haunts them, Gabby's from her High School days and Cruz's from his being sentenced for a crime he didn't commit. Back in the town they grew up in they're looking for a chance to redeem themselves and move forward. And what better way to do that than together.

I loved the slow burn type of romance that Cruze and Gabby had, and it brought all the sexual tension to their story. There was so much to learn about them and it had me captivated and excited to dig deeper into their characters. There were some flashbacks to their High School days that I actually really enjoyed. I felt like the characters were very well developed and those extra parts from their past helped with that. And in the present I was rooting them on and sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for them to finally give in to the chemistry between them.

Overall, I found this book to be very enjoyable and it's one I would recommend. I didn't have a problem reading it before the previous books in the series so I'd say it could be read as a standalone. Though I do plan on going back and reading more of this author since I liked this books so much.

I've been looking forward to more of Brooke and if this series. It's becoming one of my favourites from this author. All the characters are so good. It's hard to pick my favourite out of all of them. Every book and character just seems to get better.

Brody and Brookes story is so sweet. Even though there was a few hard awkward moments they would all think back to when they were younger and were so close. That time mite not of been great for Brody but Brooke made it better for him. Now things are a lot different they have grown up but the attraction is even stronger. But they have moved on with there lives and they don't even live in the same state. But Brooke has a plan to make Brody see what he is missing.

I really enjoy this author her books are just so good. I really enjoyed the story i did want a lil bit more but I m alway like that with shorter book. I read this book in no time once I started I couldn't put it down. I would highly recommend it.

Tempting Brooke was a sweet story and a great addition to this series. There was a really good mix of some angst thrown into the story as well with Brody wanting to sell the building Brooke's flower show was in. But that didn't stop these characters from being with one another and their chemistry was still the main focus of the story and had me smiling while I read. Brooke and Brody together was just super sweet and I couldn't help but love them. Overall, this was a quick and enjoyable read with likable characters and swoon worthy moments.

Fall

The first time I met Jax Blackwood things went a little sideways. In my defense, I didn’t know he was Jax Blackwood—who expects a legendary rock star to be shopping for groceries? More importantly, a blizzard was coming and he was about to grab the last carton of mint-chocolate chip. Still, I might have walked away, but then he smugly dared me to try and take the coveted ice cream. So I kissed him. And distracted that mint-chip right out of his hands. Okay, it was a dirty move, but desperate times and all that. Besides, I never expected he’d be my new neighbor. An annoying neighbor who takes great pleasure in reminding me that I owe him ice cream but would happily accept more kisses as payment. An irresistible neighbor who keeps me up while playing guitar naked–spectacularly naked–in his living room. Clearly, avoidance is key. Except nothing about Jax is easy to ignore—not the way he makes me laugh, or that his particular brand of darkness matches mine, or how one look from him melts me faster than butter under a hot sun. Neither of us believes in love or forever. Yet we’re quickly becoming each other’s addiction. But we could be more. We could be everything. All we have to do is trust enough to fall.

This book has me very conflicted and a little confused on how I feel. I enjoyed the story, I liked the characters, and I had a fun time reading it. But then there are things that I didn't enjoy so much and there even some things that had me feeling a little rage-y. So basically my brain is just all over the place.

Let me explain. So the beginning of the book went very well and full on devoured it. Stella was this fun-loving, quirky character and Jax was a bit of brooding mess. I thought it was really fun how they came together and I liked that they were so opposite of each other and that Stella could make Jax smile so much. They just seemed to fit together better than peanut butter and jelly.

Then as I continued to read on things changed. And on one hand I could appreciate that the further we dug into Stella's character the more we got the true her and not just the smiling and loving part of her. But on the other it was like she became this can-do-no-wrong person in Jax's eyes and it had me rolling my own eyes. It was like she had no flaws other than the fact she had a horrible singing voice and it made her character turn into an unbelievable one for me.

And I'm talking about Stella so much in this review because I felt like it was almost more her story than Jax's. Which was a little disappointing because I felt like his character had so much to say and yet he was silenced. There were times when he was emotional but it was like that wasn't focused on enough to actually bring that emotion to the story and let me see it.

And then the ending is the part that made me a little furious. True to romance book fashion there was a big grand apology for something at the end. Which if it was the opposite person apologizing I wouldn't have had a problem with it. But as is, the character that actually went and apologized I felt like shouldn't have been the one doing that. Which is just how I felt about that situation.

Overall, I still recommend reading this book even though I had some issues with it. I think a lot of people will love it and that I was just looking for a different type of story for Jax which is probably why it fella little flat for me.

Reveling In Sin

Whitney Gable is the kind of woman you fight to the death to protect. To keep. To cherish. I’ve finally learned my lesson, and it’s time to prove I’m the man who’s worthy of her. I don’t care what it takes, because failure is not an option. No matter who or what stands in our way—this time, she’ll be mine forever

Holy drama, Batman! I swear this book didn't have a single page without drama or surprises that had me wide eyed and re-reading sentences to make sure I read them right the first time. Captivated doesn't even begin to describe how I felt reading this. All of the questions I've had throughout this trilogy were answered, along with some I didn't even know to ask.

I don't even think I can really say anything without spoiling parts of this story so I'm just going to keep this a short review and tell you to just go read this series! It will have you on the edge of your seat and pulling out your hair trying to figure out what's going on. I'm not going to lie, sometimes there was maybe a little too much going on to seem plausible but just like a soap opera it had me thoroughly intrigued.

EXCERPT:

The bell dings, and I reach for my small handbag and answer the door.

Brody’s eyes start at my face and slowly meander down my body to my sandal-covered feet, and if I’m not mistaken, his jaw clenches.

Just friends, Brooke.

  “Hey.”

I can’t help but take my own perusal of the man standing before me. Jesus in a basket, he fills out a suit nicely. His shoulders are broad, and his arms muscular.

Yes, this does things to me.

“Can I come in?” he asks with a small smile on his lips.

“Of course.” I step back and he walks inside my small house.

“This is nice,” he says, but his eyes are still on me.

“Thanks. I’ve been here for a couple of years.” I glance around, wondering if Brody and I have the same tastes, and then I glance back to him and bust out laughing.

  “What?” he asks.

“Turn around.” He complies, and I reach up to pull the tag that’s poked out of the neck of his jacket. His hair is soft against the back of my fingers, and I can’t help but wonder what it would feel like as I fist it while he does amazing, sexy things to me.

I take a deep breath and hand it to him with a laugh. “Wear it every day, my ass.”

He tucks the tag in his pocket. “I didn’t bring a suit to Montana. I had to improvise.”

He bought it just for me.

And according to the tag, it wasn’t cheap.

Now I feel bad. I shouldn’t have pushed the issue. He spent a bunch of money that he didn’t need to, all because I gave him a hard time.

“I thought we could eat at Ciao tonight,” he says as he leads me out of the house to his rented convertible. The sun broke out a couple of hours ago, and it’s the perfect temperature now. But     I just did my hair.

I think about asking him to put the top up, and then decide, fuck it.

I reach into my handbag and pull out a hair tie, twist my hair on top of my head, and grin as I sit in the fun car.

“I could have put the top up.”

“And that would have been a waste on a day like today,” I reply smoothly and have to physically restrain myself from reaching over to brush my fingertips through that soft hair at the nape of his neck.

We drive through town in silence. Rather than park in front of the restaurant, he drives past, and I frown over at him.

  “Having second thoughts?”

“No.” He sends me a smile. “Before we go in, I’d like to know why you got so quiet.”

I bite my lip and look out my window, then turn to him and say, “Did you buy that suit just for me?”

“Seems I do a lot of things for you lately,” he replies with a grin. “It’s not a big deal, Brooke.”

“I’m sorry,” I reply. “I was just goofing around this afternoon. I didn’t mean for you to have to do all of this.”

  “All of what?”

“Buy that gorgeous suit, take me to dinner. I feel like I hijacked your day, and I feel bad.”

He pulls over, whips his seatbelt off, and turns to me.

  “Look at me.”

I comply. He drags his knuckle down my cheek again, and that’s all it takes to set my body on high alert.

I clear my throat. “While I was eating my ice cream—”
He snorts, but remains tense.
“I thought about how you looked familiar to me.”
“It was the guilt haunting you.”
“Or … And I’m just throwing this out there. You’re Jax Blackwood.”
He actually flinches. “Fuck. You recognized me.”
“It was bound to happen. John? Really?”
His chin tips in a pugnacious angle. “It’s my name. John is … me. Jax is who I am onstage.”
I picture him performing, all electric energy and raw passion and sheer talent. It’s a sight to behold. Hell, a couple of really hot fantasies have been induced by that sight.
While I’m lost in a teen fantasy, his eyes dart around like he’s expecting someone to pop out from behind a snow mound and take his picture. Then his gaze snags on me. My expression must be slightly punch drunk, because his entire body leans away from mine. Not exactly flattering to realize he’s afraid I’ll try to lick his face or something.
I snap my gaping mouth closed. “Oh, calm down. It’s not like I’m going to start squealing and try to grab your junk.”
His expression lightens a little. “I think if you grabbed my junk, I’d be the one squealing.”
“True. I have surprisingly strong hands.” When he stares at me in horror, I hold them up and wiggle my fingers. “Yoga. It’s highly effective.”
“My balls just flinched in terror.”
“Consider yourself warned.”
He snorts but then glances at our building. “You really live here?”
“Do you really think I hunted you down?”
John—because I can’t seem to think of him as Jax—runs his hand through his damp hair, which makes his biceps bunch and twitch. “Yeah … that does sound crazy.”
Crazy. This whole situation is. One day, I’m offered a four-month home in a dream condo, the next I’m standing on my stoop talking to a rock star. The biggest legend of my generation. I honestly don’t know how I’m not stammering right now.
“I can’t believe we’re neighbors,” I say without thinking.
His green eyes glint in the afternoon light, but he pauses and looks at me more closely. “You know, not to sound conceited here, but you’re kind of leering at me right now.”
My chin snaps up like I’ve been hit, even as my body flushes with embarrassment. Shit. I totally had been leering. No, not leering. But I had been staring at him in awe. Ugh. “Well, you do sound conceited. I was simply making polite eye contact.”
Liar McLiar-Face.

It took a lot for Andi to get to where she is now, finally happy and living a good life with her son. She doesn't need much else and she's good with how her life is going now. But then childhood friend and man who's heart she once broke comes back to town and is now her son's new teacher. Kyle knew he would run into Andi now that he's back in the town he grew up in, but he wasn't expecting that chemistry to still be there between them and now his plan of just ignoring her is no longer an option.

I thought this was a really sweet story. It had that second-chance romance vibe but the fact that Kyle and Andi had a past wasn't made the focal point of their story, at least not for me. Instead it was their present that was focused on and we got to see them get to know each other all over again. There wasn't really any drama that got between them, which I thought was refreshing, but there was still some intrigue and angst thrown in.

Overall, this series has been a wonderful reading experience and I've liked each of the characters we got to meet throughout it. Dream can be read as a standalone with no problem but I still recommend reading the other books, in any order, since they've all been so great.
