Synopsis

From NYT and USA Today bestselling author A.L. Jackson comes a friends-to-lovers romance about an unattainable rockstar and his best friend’s younger sister…

Maggie Fitzgerald is the last girl I should think about taking to my bed.
On the cusp of turning 21, she has her whole life waiting out ahead of her. Sexy AF while still radiating an innocence that I know better than to taint.
And here I am, itching to reach out and touch a girl who is so forbidden that just thinking about her feels like committing a mortal sin.
Thing is, I love playing with fire.

Rhys Manning is everything I shouldn’t want.
Country-rock’s newest superstar.
Fun. Wild. Ready to show the world a good time.
He’s so off-limits it isn’t even funny.
So out of reach he might as well be a poster tacked on my wall.
Too bad every time he looks at me, my heart races out of control.

Now, I’m stuck living with him for the entire summer…
We’re only supposed to be friends. Still, I should have known it was a terrible idea when I started sneaking into his room. Especially when it’s clear he’s keeping secrets.
Secrets that might destroy us both.
One touch, and I want more.
One kiss, and I’m spiraling out of control.
I know it’s reckless to start dancing in the flames.
But in exchange for getting to spend one night with this brooding bad boy? I might be willing to get burned…

Redeemed

Santiago Alatorre
One mistake destroys my career.
I go from most eligible bachelor to monster, hiding from the world.
At least until Chloe breaks into my home.
My new fake girlfriend is a temporary fix to my biggest problem.
But as our game changes, so do my feelings.
There’s only one issue stopping me from claiming her.
Me.

Chloe Carter
It all started with a birthday wish, some vodka, and an ancestry kit.
That’s how I end up in Italy, finding my long-lost father.
But one decision lands me a fake boyfriend I don’t want.
The more we pretend, the easier our ruse becomes.
I told myself not to fall in love with a liar like Santiago.
I should have listened.

Santiago was honestly only an iffy character for me in the previous books. At times I just couldn't tell if I liked him or not. But his story definitely made up my mind and I am now a proud and unashamed lover of Santiago Alatorre. His story broke my heart and made me feel so much for him and I loved it. I felt really connected to his character in this book and I loved the way Lauren Asher portrayed him and had me deep in my feels over him. He didn't have an easy story, and it was one that shocked me since it put him into a completely different light than in the other books, but it ended up being the best thing for him and I definitely enjoyed it.

"Where most people see weeds, I only see you - my beautiful wildflower, untamed and free."

Chloe was just as amazing of a character and I really liked getting to know her. She was trying to find her path in life and when it led her to Santiago it was the best thing ever. She was so free and such a lighthearted woman even after the crappy had life had dealt her. Which made her perfect for Santiago and brought fun and laughter into his life at the moment he needed it most. And in turn he helped her find herself even when he wasn't sure where he was in life himself.

Bottom line, I will scream from the rooftops to read this book if I have to. It can be read as a standalone but I personally think that to really get to know Santiago you should start with the previous books. Which are all amazing as well so it's definitely not a hardship to read those before starting this one.

Goal Lines & First Times

COVER & EXCERPT REVEAL

GOAL LINES & FIRST TIMES (CU Hockey #3) by Eden Finley & Saxon James

Release Date: February 10, 2021

Cover Design: Story Styling Cover Designs

Genre: M/M College Sports Romance
Trope: Bisexual awakening, first time gay

SYNOPSIS

COHEN

It turns out making out with my best friend in high school could be considered gay. Who knew? Apparently, everyone but me.

Now that it’s been pointed out, I can’t help reliving it in my head. Repeatedly. Goodbye Denial Town, hello Confusionville.

When my path leads me down the gay dating app route, I don’t expect to meet anyone I like, but then I meet him.

He can’t be more opposite than me. He’s smart, he hates hockey, and he identifies as demi—something I’ve never heard of.

Yet I can’t deny something’s there. Something I want to explore in person. If only I could get him to agree.

SETH

All my life, I’ve felt broken.

Sick of being asked if I could be gay by ex-girlfriends, friends, and even my parents, I join a gay dating app to prove a point.

I don’t expect to find what’s always been missing. A real connection.

The problem is, I’m too scared to meet him in person. He’s a hockey player, and I fear when he finds out my twin plays for the NHL, I’ll be overshadowed by my overachieving brother. Again.

Worse yet, what happens if we meet and that connection isn’t the same?

When I tell him I’m not ready, he’s disappointed but supportive. Fate, on the other hand, isn’t as accepting.

I had no idea the person I’ve been falling for is someone I already know.

EXCERPT

Einstein: I get the impression you’re a total dork. I like it.

Richie: Interesting. If you had to guess, what would you say I look like?

Einstein: Well according to your photo, you have some solid abs, but I’m thinking you’re a bigger guy with a baby face and would be the type to open the door for your dates.

Richie: Is that what you’re into?

My alarm beeps obnoxiously, reminding me it’s time to get moving. I hurry to grab my keys, but even after I lock my apartment and head for the car, I can’t bring myself to end the conversation.

Einstein: I don’t know if it’s a demi thing or a me thing, but I don’t have a type. At least, with women. Jury’s still out on guys.

I climb in the car, and when his reply doesn’t come straightaway, I wonder if that was the wrong answer. Maybe he wanted specifics.

The thing is, Richie has given me enough to find out exactly who he is. If I really wanted to know who I’m talking to, I could easily go look. I’ve been close a few times.

I’m holding strong though. Letting this thing between us happen naturally.

I lock my phone and back out of my parking space. Of course, I’m barely on the road for a minute when Richie writes back, and it takes a stern reminder of the road rules to stop me from grabbing my phone and checking it anyway.

The drive that barely takes ten minutes seems like an eternity. I get every red light, and there’s no parking spaces by the café, so I have to lap the block before I find one.

I’m flustered and my brain is a chaotic mess as I grab my phone and open ChatUp.

Richie: I’m going to ask something and I hope I don’t sound like a dick. Have you been attracted to dudes before or is this all a test to prove your ex-girlfriend wrong?

Einstein: You’re going to laugh.

Richie: It’ll make us even then.

I get out of the car and text him while I walk.

Einstein: You know the show The Witcher? Turns out I have a bit of a thing for him.

Richie: When you say ‘a thing’ …

Einstein: He turned me on, okay? I jerked off to him so much I worried I’d pull a muscle.

Richie: Technically you were pulling a muscle.

I want to point out that the penis isn’t actually a muscle, but I hold off, because I’m having fun.

Einstein: *middle finger emoji*

Richie: Hey, I get it. Henry Cavill’s hot.

I snort back a laugh.

Einstein: I’m struggling to work out how you didn’t know you’re attracted to guys.

Richie: My blinders were on, but I’m seeing the world in a whole new way now.

Einstein: Okay, first, I warn you. I look nothing like him. Unlike you (apparently) I don’t have abs. Second, it’s not the actor. It’s the character. According to my old pal Google, demi people can form connections with fictional characters easier than people. And from what I know about myself, it seems pretty accurate.

I’m worried I’ve said too much, or sound too weird, so I quickly follow the message up.

Einstein: Now if that doesn’t turn you on about me, nothing will.

The little dots appear on my screen, telling me he’s replying. I’m holding my breath, totally consumed by my phone.

So consumed—

Oof!

I slam right into someone.

I bounce back, and hands clamp down my shoulders to steady me before I stumble over my own feet. There’s a thump of a phone hitting the ground, and as I blink the pain in my forehead away, one of Foster’s old teammates comes into vision.

Rossi?

Martin?

No, it starts with a C.

“Graceful, Cohen,” another of the hockey guys calls out from inside while giving us a thumbs up.

Ah, Cohen, then.

“Hey, you okay?” he asks, forehead lined with concern as his eyes meet mine.

“Yeah, fine.” I brush him off. “Sorry, I wasn’t watching where I was going.”

His grin catches me off guard as he bends and picks his phone up off the pavement. “Me neither.” He rubs his shoulder. “You bodycheck as hard as your brother.”

“Sorry?”

He chuckles and grabs the door to the café, holding it open. “All good. You going in here?”

“Thanks.” I pass him and catch sight of Zach sitting at a far table. Damn, he beat me here. Which means message time is over even as the thought of Richie’s waiting reply burns in my consciousness.

“Sorry again,” Cohen says, cuffing me on the shoulder as he makes his way to the counter.

Not My Match

Homeless and heartbreakingly innocent, Giselle Riley walks into my penthouse and chaos follows.

Instead, I’m her matchmaking service, no matter how jealous it makes me when I tag along on her dates.
I can keep my self-control. Right? No way will I give in to everything inside me that dreams of a girl like her in my world.

We first met Giselle and Devon in the previous book, Not My Romeo, and they couldn't have been more different. So I was really intrigued to see how they would end up together and honestly a little scared to see if Giselle would be redeemed enough for me. She was an iffy character in the first book but I knew Ilsa Madden-Mills wouldn't disappoint so I jumped into this story without hesitation.

And I had nothing to fear because Giselle and Devon were amazing and worked together so well. I loved the banter between them and the chemistry that sizzled with every glance. The differences in their characters actually became the best thing about their relationship and gave us so much to see and love about them. Theirs was a slow burn type of romance and I shockingly loved that about it even though usually it's not my favorite. It worked for them though and there was still a huge amount of sexual tension between them that had me on the edge of my seat.

Overall, this is definitely a must read and while I do think it can be read as a standalone with little issue I think that it's best read after the first book in the series.

The Fourth Time Charm

“Are you sleeping with my daughter?”

Not the question I wanted to hear from my coach. The man holding my pro future in the palm of his hand.

The answer: No, sir.

The real answer: I’d sure as hell like to be.

Marisa’s been my best friend since third grade. And now she needs my help--and a place to stay. Senior year was supposed to be the year to keep some distance until the season finished and my draft prospects were safe.

But resisting her is becoming impossible. Movie Thursdays under the blankets. Study sessions on my bed. Wild party nights where I kept any guy interested at bay with a single glare.

Her dad can bench my ass for the entire season, so she’s off limits--for now.

She’s the only woman I’ve ever loved. And one heated night, I can’t stop fighting every cell in my body and can’t stop myself from sampling her sexy smile, her sweet smell, and her sultry curves.

We’re walking a tightrope with my future on the line. Let’s just make sure Coach doesn’t find out...

I finished this book last night and I'm still thinking about these characters because I just loved them so hard. Marisa and LJ were so amazing together and I'm not usually a huge fan of friends-to-lovers romances but I was a huge fan of them and they made this book a really fun read.

I really enjoyed that they didn't just fall into a romantic relationship easily and instead they both kind of struggled with their feelings at times. It made the story feel very real and made it easy to connect to them as a couple and as separate characters. I adored how they were together even as just friends because they never failed to put a smile on my face.

I liked Marisa and LJ as side characters and all the little hints we got of them in the previous books had me dying to get their story and now I can say without a doubt that it was so worth the wait. I'm pretty sure I smiled the entire time I was reading this book even during the moments that I wanted to just shake both Marisa and LJ and make them see how right they were for each other. Bottom line, this book is amazing and I definitely recommend giving it a try.

Roommate

Roommate by Sarina Bowen is now LIVE!!!

Wanted: One roommate to share a 3-bedroom house, split the rent, and ideally not be the guy I can’t stop thinking about.

I’m a man with too many secrets, so the last thing I need is a new roommate with a sexy smile and blue eyes that see right through me. Eight years ago, Roderick left town after high school. We’re not friends. I owe him nothing. But back then, I let one of my secrets slip, and he’s the only one who noticed.
Part of me knows I should run far, far away. But the other part wants him to come upstairs and spend the night. But if I let him in, I could lose everything.

Seeking: A room to rent in town. I’m tidy, have no pets, and I will feed you homemade bread.
I should probably add: Gay AF, and has no filter. It’s no wonder my new landlord is so wary of me.
A smarter man would ignore those hot glances from Kieran Shipley. The broody lumberjack wants more from me than another homemade pretzel, but if I push my luck, I’ll end up back on the street.
Too bad I’ve never been smart with my heart.

Available now!

I was ecstatic when I saw that Sarina Bowen was writing a new MM novel and then even more excited when I saw that it would be set in the world of the Shipley's. I've already fallen in love with this family and Kieran gave me even more to love.

Kieran and Roderick both gave me so many emotions and they both had such a vulnerability that made my heart hurt for them. But it also gave them a lot to work through which made their relationship all the better. They were absolutely adorable and I loved the little 'teaching' moments when Roderick helped Kieran get a little more comfortable with himself.

Overall, this is a must read. For fans of the True North series you get a few cameos with some much-loved characters but if you're new to the Shipley's you won't be lost at all.

RELEASE WEEK EXCERPT:

Back at home, I do all the chores and then some.

First I put the cows in the north pasture. Moving cows is easy enough in good weather. It only requires me to move the portable fence and wave them through the opening. “Go on, enjoy,” I say as they file past me eagerly. Our herd is grass fed, and they don’t need to be asked twice. The long, seedy grass and corn stalks I’m offering are like a recently freshened, all-you-can-eat buffet.

Let’s face it—the cows are easier to handle than any of my family members. They go where they’re needed, no questions asked. But my dog—Rexie—gives the cows a nice loud woof just to pretend he’s working hard.

After the cow parade, I close up the fence and turn the electricity on. After that, I spend forty-five minutes raking cow shit out of the lower farmyard in the dark.

It’s boring drudge work, and my mind starts to wander. And, fuck, it wanders right to Roderick Waites—the guy who climbed out of a blue Volkswagen and right back into my brain.

I wish I could say I haven’t thought about him since high school, but that would be a lie. And if I were a more spiritual person, I’d probably interpret Roderick’s reappearance in town as a sign. A wakeup call.

Nobody knows all the tangled things in my brain, but for a split second when I was a teenager, Roderick came close to learning one of my biggest secrets.

The first time I saw him on his knees in front of another guy, it was an accident.

It was autumn then, too. I’d been at a high school football game. It was chilly that night and, last second before leaving for the game, I’d grabbed my dad’s jacket from the hook by the door. After shoving my hands into the pockets while standing on the windy sidelines, I’d found a flask of whiskey. My father must have last worn the jacket when he was sitting out in the deer blind with his pals. Bonus.

But, of course, I’d had to sneak around to find a place to take a taste.

Leaving the crowd and the game, I ducked inside the door to the school’s gym. Under the cover of the bleachers, I drew out my dad’s flask, and unscrewed the top. Just as I raised it to my lips, I froze at the sound of whispered voices. Whoever was speaking had entered the gym at the other end of the bleachers.

Their shadowy figures weren’t easily visible. But I guessed it was a couple looking for a little privacy for a make-out session. And since a couple sneaking off together wasn’t a threat to me, I stood my ground.

I took a swallow of my father’s hooch. My first sip wasn’t life-changing—it burned going down and made my eyes water—it’s what happened next that changed everything.

After screwing the lid on the flask and pocketing it, I ducked out of the gym and into the hallway. Feeling nosy, I walked toward the gym’s other entrance, noiseless in my Nikes. When I reached the door, I eased into a position that allowed me to spy on the couple I’d heard whispering to each other. They were silent now, and I wanted to know why.

When I saw who it was, I swear my heart almost stopped. A varsity soccer player—Jared Harvey—stood beneath the bleachers, bracing his hands on a tread overhead. Roderick Waites knelt in front of him, unzipping Jared’s jeans.

You can bet I didn’t even blink for the next five minutes

Coy Mason is a jerk.

If there is one truth that Bellamy Davenport knows, it’s that. Hands-down. (Well, that and the fact that she didn’t mean to hurt him. Physically. Coy can’t be hurt emotionally because he doesn’t have a heart.)

Coy is not just the small-town, literal boy-next-door. He’s a heartbreaking, womanizing, mischief-making (and delicious) man and was all of those things well before he became a hot-shot country music sensation.

He’s a dream standing in her doorway with no shirt, messy hair, and a ‘Do you wanna?’ grin. But he’s also a nightmare for her heart and she knows it.

Their enemies-to-lovers relationship always ends the same way—heavy on the enemies, light on the lovers.

So why is she still standing there?

After meeting Bellamy in the previous book and hearing about her and Coy I was so ready to read their story. But what I wasn't ready for was the absolute raw emotions that came from Bellamy and how they drew me to her character. I was on the edge of my seat watching her and Coy fight and yet the connection was there and it was so clear they needed each other. Bellamy fought hard to stay away from him but Coy did not make it easy and it made for a really intriguing book.

Coy actually surprised me too with being such a down to earth person. He still had his cocky 'I'm a rockstar' attitude at times but mostly he was sweet and generous, and when he realized Bellamy needed him he was there for her. I loved them together and all the tension that sizzled between them with every fight they had. The chemistry was off the charts hot but it then led to some very sweet moments that I ate up like candy.

Overall, this is the perfect book to start off the new year and it's a must read. The series follows a family so there are past characters that make appearances but I do think you could read it as a standalone if you wanted.
