Black Sheep

From New York Times bestselling author Meghan March comes a story of untold truths and one man’s redemption in the Dirty Mafia Duet.

Every family has a black sheep.
In the infamous Casso crime family, that black sheep is me—Cannon Freeman.
Except I’m not a free man. I’ve never been free. Not since the day I was born.
I owe my loyalty to my father, Dominic Casso, even if he won’t publicly acknowledge me as his blood.
I’ve never had a reason to go against his wishes…until I met her.
Drew Carson turned my world upside down when she walked into my club looking for a job.
Now, my honor and my life are on the line.
Going against my father’s wishes might buy me a bullet straight from his gun, but black sheep or not, it’s time to make my stand.
She’s worth the fallout.

This story sucked me in from the very first page. Right from the beginning I had so many questions about Drew and who she was, why she was there, just everything. And I was captivated throughout the story as I dug to get my answers right along side Drew as she dug to get her own answers.

The more I read the more I loved these characters. Drew was a tenacious woman that didn't once let the danger she was putting herself in stop her from goal and I loved that about her. So many heart pounding moments were the result of her refusing to give up and she was the character that had this book so hard to put down. Cannon, though, there is so much we don't know about him still. There was an air of mystery that surrounded him and had me wanting to find out just what made him tick. I can't wait to read on to the next installment and get to know him more because I just know he will have one hell of an interesting story.

The cliffhanger at the end of this book had my jaw dropping open as I just stared at my Kindle waiting for the next page to appear. I shouldn't be surprised by now that Ms. March would leave us that way, but every cliffy she writes still manages to shock me. I'm starting the next book right away and I'm not even sorry to ignore reality a little longer so I can read it. Cannon and Drew had so much tension and passion between them I can't go long without reading more.

Wild Tendy

Nico has goals...and she's number one on his list. Wild Tendy by Toni Aleo is available now!

Universal -- mybook.to/WildTendy

Nico Merryweather loves women—all women. Sure, they’re sexy and fun. But “Player” is an easy reputation to hide behind, a way to keep the good times rolling and reality at bay. He’s loud, he’s cocky, he says exactly what he’s thinking, and people just laugh it off because they think they know him. But Nico makes sure no one is close enough to know the truth. With a new season starting, he is ready to play the game he can control. They’ll all be watching Nico, the goalie, but they’ll never know the man behind the mask who is just trying to breathe. He hasn’t ever wanted anyone close enough to him to see the truth, until Aviva rams herself into his ass. Literally.

Aviva Pearce’s life is a collection of bad days all wrapped up without a bow. If it can go wrong, it will. All she wants is to run her business, take care of her sister, and keep her head above water. But with a father who is out to ruin her like he has himself and debt trying to drown her, it’s hard to stay afloat. Aviva isn’t the type to waste time dwelling on her misfortunes or to give up, though. She’s got too much fight in her. And she definitely doesn’t have time to waste on the wildly sexy, rich, showboating goaltender everyone wants. She’s got goals.

What she doesn’t know is that Nico has goals of his own.

And she’s number one on his list.

I have so much to say about this book but I'm going to try and keep this short since I think it's a story best read when you go in blind. Nico was honestly a character that I was really sure about, he's been around in the previous book and even in the Nashville Assassins: Next Generation series but he was hard to get a read on. He could act like a total ass but at the same time you could tell that there was more to him. For the most part I was excited to see what his story was and now that I've finished it I am totally Team Nico.

He had me smiling so much while he was trying to get Aviva to give him a chance. And I love that she made him work for it, mostly for the selfish reason that I really adored when he was being so sweet and wooing her. Aviva was very easy to like, even when I wanted to just smack her and make her stop being so stubborn at times. I admired that she was so determined to not take handouts and to work for everything she had, but at times that stubbornness went a little too far.

Overall, this was an amazing story and one I definitely recommend reading. It could be read as a standalone but there are cameo's from Chandler and Amelia from the first book and some may consider a few things mentioned as a spoiler.

About the Author:
My name is Toni Aleo and I’m a total dork.
I am a wife, mother of two and a bulldog, and also a hopeless romantic.
I am the biggest Shea Weber fan ever, and can be found during hockey season with my nose pressed against the Bridgestone Arena’s glass, watching my Nashville Predators play!
When my nose isn’t pressed against the glass, I enjoy going to my husband and son’s hockey games, my daughter’s dance competition, hanging with my best friends, taking pictures, scrapbooking, and reading the latest romance novel.
I have a slight Disney and Harry Potter obsession, I love things that sparkle, I love the color pink, I might have been a Disney Princess in a past life… probably Belle.
… and did I mention I love hockey?

Talk about some angst! I thought my Kindle was going to explode from all of the sexual tension going on in this story. Blaze and Charisma had some heated moments between them and they kept me constantly wondering if they were going to push each other away or end up tearing each others' clothes off. I thought that tension was done really well and I loved that they had me guessing so much.

Not going to lie, there were times that I really wanted them to put their fighting aside so we could focus on them together, but overall the fighting between them just worked. It was like they needed to fuel that intense fire between them with all of the hate until it finally burned out and they could move on. This is definitely a true enemies-to-lovers book and I think any fan of the trope will me salivating over these characters. They'll have you on the edge of your seat waiting for them to fight it out in the most delicious ways.

I've been a fan of these series (okay so it's not promoted as a series but I think of it as one) and this book just adds to why I love this authors NA romances so much. These characters never fail to intrigue me and they always have me ignoring reality to get to the end once I finish.

On the Corner of Love and Hate

On the Corner of Love and Hate
Nina Bocci
Hopeless Romantics Book 1

What’s a campaign manager’s worst nightmare? A smooth-talking charmer who’s never met a scandal that he didn’t like.

When Emmanuelle Peroni’s father—and mayor of her town—asks her to help rehab Cooper Endicott’s image, she’s horrified. Cooper drives her crazy in every way possible. But he’s also her father’s protégé, and she can’t say no to him without him finding out the reason why: Cooper and her have a messy past. So Emmanuelle reluctantly launches her father’s grand plan to get this Casanova someone to settle down with and help him lose his lothario reputation.

Cooper Endicott wanted to run for Mayor, but he never wanted the drama that went with it. Now that he’s on the political hamster wheel, the other candidates are digging up everything from his past. Even though he’s doing all the right things, his colorful love life is the sticking point for many of the conservative voters. He wants to win, badly, and he knows that if he wants any chance of getting a vote from the female population, he needs to change his image. The only problem? He might just be falling in love with the one person he promised not to pursue: the Mayor’s off-limits daughter.

A perfect blend of humor and heart, On the Corner of Love and Hate is the first in a new series from USA TODAY bestselling author Nina Bocci.

On the Corner of Love and Hate is an enemies/frenemies to lovers type of story and follows Emma and Cooper. These two were once childhood friends that eventually grew apart after some heartbreak turned enemies. This is a trope that I can completely get on board with and I always love the tension that comes from stories like this. Unfortunately in this book that tension was a little too much and it never seemed to end.

Emma is a workaholic that's left running around like a mad woman picking up after Cooper as he ignores his work duties in order to focus on his Mayoral campaign. As well as focusing on all the ladies in his life. That's our introduction to these characters, Cooper not seeming to care about anyone but himself even as Emma is clearly struggling to handle the work. It made it hard for me to connect to, or even like, Cooper's character. Especially since this story was told completely in Emma's POV so I never got a real chance to see Cooper's motives behind those actions or if he really did care and it just wasn't shown through Emma.

The big problem I had with this book, however, was the lack of romance. The majority of the book focused on Cooper's campaign, Emma being a slave to work, despising Cooper, and their little quips back and forth. It was a struggle to see where the romance came in during the entire first 70 or 80% of the story. So then when the ending came it was hard to believe that after all of that, that these two actually had a love story.

But I did like the overall story, and as much as wished there would have been less of the enemies part of the enemies-to-lovers trope I did like those parts of the story. The dialogue between Cooper and Emma was well written and engaging. It had me wanting to find out more about each other them, as well as wishing we got to see them together. Overall, I had problems with the book but I do recommend it and think that it will have many fans.

After months of paralyzing emptiness, I turn to The Wicked Horse so I can feel something. Anything, really. Any shred of emotion that will explain why I’m still here. Absolutely perfect. Gorgeous and bends to my will. Gives me her body willingly, while expecting nothing more from me than the pleasure I offer he r. And the more she gives, the more I find myself wanting to take. Wanting to crawl out of my personal hell for this wicked angel.

Download WICKED ANGEL:

I was a lil worried about this book the last book was good but it missed the Wicked Horse hotness. But this book it was back and I was delighted. It what this series is all about and I miss it when it not there. The story was really good and heart breaking in parts. Benjamin and Elena connection was strong from the start but with everything that has happened in Benjamin's life. It's not easy for him to move on but there was something about Elena that has finally opened him up. He has been closed off since the accident but now he was starting to feel again and didn't think he could deal with it. But Elena was a woman you just have fun with. She is a great woman and so caring. He would be lucky to have a woman like her.

I really enjoyed this book, It's back to the hotness of the Wicked Horse. Elena and Benjamin were so hot together from the start you could see they were meant to be. I felt sorry for Benjamin life hasn't been easy for him but Elena was the right person to make things better for him. I would highly recommend this book and series I've enjoyed every book and I 'll be gutted when the series is over.

This story captivated me from the beginning and I loved the mix between the emotional parts and the sensual ones. Benjamin and Elena had a really great connection and I liked that we got to see how that connection played out on all sides of their relationship.

Benjamin was definitely a little skittish when it came to being with Elena for more than a fun night at the Wicked Horse, and I felt for him so much with what he was dealing with. Getting to see those vulnerable parts to his character was what had me loving him so hard. And I loved how Elena didn't push him for more even when she wanted to. It really solidified their relationship that she understood him so well and knew when to push and when not to. I thought they were a great couple because of that.

And of course the heated moments between them definitely had me loving them. I'm really excited that we're getting back to the steamier side of things with this series now and it has me dying for more of the club.

Coming Up Roses

Everyone hates part of their job, and I hate Luke Bennet.

Coming Up Roses, an all-new must read enemies to lovers romantic comedy from Staci Hart is available now!

CUR-ebook
Everyone hates parts of their job.
Maybe it’s the paperwork. Maybe it’s the day-to-day grind. Maybe it’s that client who never knows what they want, or the guy who always cooks fish in the microwave.
But not me. I love every corner of the Longbourne Flower Shop, every flower, every petal, every stem. I love the greenhouse, and I love Mrs. Bennet, my boss. I love creating, and I love being a florist. I don’t hate anything at all.
Except for Luke Bennet.
The Bennet brothers have come home to help their mom save the flower shop, and Luke is at the helm. His smile tells a tale of lust, loose and easy. He moves with the grace of a predator, feral and wild. A thing unbridled, without rules or constraint.
When he comes home to save Longbourne, I almost can’t be mad at him.
Almost.
He doesn’t remember that night I’ll never forget. That kiss, touched with whiskey and fire. It branded me like a red-hot iron. But it meant nothing to him.
Everyone hates part of their job, and I hate Luke Bennet.
Because if I don’t, I’ll fall in love with him.

Coming Up Roses was a sweet, smile-inducing story about Tess and Luke. Tess swears she can never forgive Luke for something that happened years ago, and Luke is a care-free guy that doesn't understand why Tess is so mad at him. But when he's back in his families flower shop, where Tess has worked since High School, he makes it his mission to get Tess to start liking him again.

I thought this was an enjoyable book to read, and it was fun to see how Tess and Luke progressed from enemies with a heavy dose of sexual tension, to then getting some really sweet scenes between them when Tess started to feel differently about Luke. It kept me intrigued with the story and also had me very interested to know more about the Bennett family.

Overall, this was a good read and one I would recommend. It's a spin off from another series from this author, which I haven't finished, but can be read as a complete standalone with no issues.

everyone-hates

Excerpt:
I wanted to kiss Tess Monroe. I’d wanted to kiss her the second she walked into the shop a couple days ago, wearing overalls and a Cure T-shirt. I’d wanted to kiss her as I watched her scrub the wall with her little face wrinkled up in concentration. I’d wanted to kiss her when she fell off the ladder and into my arms. And all day today while we painted the shop, I only thought about one thing. I wanted to kiss her. And I was accustomed to getting what I wanted. “Did you hear me?” Kash asked impatiently. “Hmm?” He rolled his eyes, his long body stretched out on the bottom bunk in our old room. “Man, what’s with you?” “I’ve been scrubbing and painting the shop for two days. I’m tired.” “Right,” he said, “and the redhead in the overall shorts has nothing to do with it.” I leaned back in the wooden desk chair I’d taken up residence in, the hinge squeaking. “As if Tess Monroe would willingly give me the time of day.” He shrugged. “Seems to me like she’s given you the time every hour, on the hour, for two days. What’s with her? She was different today.” It was true. This morning, she’d walked into the shop, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to work with a smile on her face. She’d only insulted me seven times, and one of those was a backhanded compliment. My stats were down: the day before, it’d been twenty-three insults and a jab with a broom handle that I couldn’t be sure was accidental. Not that I was counting. “I dunno what’s gotten into her, but I’m not looking a gift horse in the mouth. I’m just taking the boon and moving on.” “Man, she looked so cute with that bandana in her hair and paint on her nose. And her ass in those overalls…” He whistled up at my old bunk. I fought the urge to chuck my Batman paperweight at him. “So are you going after her or what?” Kash asked, smirking. “I just got her to quit treating me like a dog. Pretty sure anything more is off the table.” “Maybe I’ll go after her then. Think I’ve got a shot?” I snorted to cover my immediate fury at the thought. “She’s a girl with standards, Kash. If I don’t have a shot, you’ve got none in hell.” “Maybe she just needs somebody older. More mature.” “We were born in the same year, asshole.” “I’m just saying. Maybe she’s looking for stability. Everybody knows you’re about as stable as uranium.” “And you’re running your mouth like you want a foot in Uranus.” Kash laughed. “I’d love to see you try.” I eyed him. “You don’t actually like her, do you?” “Nah,” he said, smiling. “I just want you to admit you do.” A sigh of concession blew out of me, the pause filled with my thoughts. “We almost kissed yesterday,” I admitted. Kash sat up so fast, he thunked his head on the bottom bunk. “Goddammit—” He rubbed at his forehead “—Warn a guy before you go saying things like, I almost kissed Tess. I laughed openly at his misfortune, hoping it left a mark. “She fell off a ladder in storage, and I caught her. Topless.” His eyes bulged, hand still pressed to his forehead. “Tess was topless in storage?” “No, I was.” He rolled his eyes, chucking a pillow at me. I caught it midair and chucked it right back at him. “I’m surprised she didn’t deck you,” he said, fluffing the pillow before leaning back again. “Me too, if I’m being honest. She hates me. Hated me. Maybe still hates me a little.” “What’d you do to her?” he asked. At this point, the question was rhetorical—neither of us knew, no matter how many times we’d asked. “Who knows? But I think the last couple of days have helped my case. All I had to do was show up and not fuck up.” “Don’t worry. There’s still time,” he reassured me. “Trust me, I’m aware. I’ve been working on the installation for her in the back, and I’m both convinced I’m going to disappoint her and that I’ll knock her socks off.” “Or her bra. Think you can knock that off?” “If she were anybody else, I’d guarantee it. But Tess?” I made a resigned noise.77 He watched me for a second in that way he had about him, the quiet assessment that ran under his outward charm. It was a mask— that much I knew for a fact—armor to protect his soft spots. Everyone thought he was nothing but a girl-crazy flirt, just like me. But that was just how we liked it. Let them think we were empty. There was comfort in being underestimated. We were constantly set to impress everyone.
About Staci

AuthorPics

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey.
From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she's not writing, she's reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.
