“Welcome to Latin American History.”

At that deep, lightly accented voice, my pen fell to the paper, as useless as my brain.

“This class will also serve as your Study At Sea seminar, which means I have the joy of getting to know each of you very well over the next three months since you’ll be writing a thirty-page thesis for me.”

The class groaned, and I slowly dragged my eyes from the paper, past the neck of the red-haired boy in front of me, to the man who stood at the head of our class, casually leaning against his desk. I took in the way his pants hugged his hips, the contrast of his rolled white button-down against his tanned skin, and the loose green tie at his throat. My gaze caught on his lips, the strong line of his nose and cheekbones, to the melty chocolate eyes that were focused on the other side of the room as he addressed the students there. His hair looked like he’d run his hands through it more than a few times, and his teeth flashed white when he grinned, those panty-dissolving dimples appearing.

My heart stopped beating and my breath froze in my lungs, as if the slightest motion would make him disappear. A rush of heat flushed my skin, and the knot in my chest loosened, unraveling as surely as my body had the last time I’d seen him.

“So let’s get started, shall we? I just flew in from the States today, but I’ll be sure to learn all of your names by the end of the week. Now if you’ll let me have this moment, I’ve been waiting eight years to say it— My name is Dr. Delgado.”

Two thoughts slammed into me simultaneously.

One—Delgado. At least now I knew his last name.

Two—Holy. Fucking. Shit. Cruz was my professor.

Sure Thing
Jana Aston
Publication date: October 10th 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

A new STANDALONE romance from New York Times bestselling author Jana Aston

Have you ever set out to have a one night stand with a sexy stranger?
No? I’m the only one?
Just kidding, I would never.
Ever.
Not usually.

But then I figured, why not? My entire life I’ve been good and it’s gotten me nowhere.
No job.
No apartment.
No boyfriend.

I’m owed a little fun, aren’t I? A reward for being good.
Sure, a new pair of shoes would be more appropriate, but Mr. Sexy Stranger is more appealing. And when he speaks—in that British accent—it’s a done deal. Every American woman has a hot British guy fantasy. Well, most do. I haven’t taken a poll or anything, but I’m pretty sure it’s a fact.

Except…
You know that saying about best-laid plans?
Good, because I don’t either, but I assume they go awry.
Like my one night stand…

Prescription for Love

Forensic pathologist Margo Nolan is wholly unprepared when she is named guardian to a girl she once loved as her own. Struggling to balance her professional life against sudden parenthood, she has no clue how to reach out to her ‘daughter,’ Emma. Complicating matters is the sexy—and much younger!—doctor-next-door, Jamie Gillespie.

Jamie Gillespie volunteered to step in for his uncle, the village doctor—in part as a favour to the older man, and in part to stick it to his father’s lofty ambitions for him. The last thing he expected in this sleepy part of Surrey was to meet the tough and seemingly cold Margo. Everything about her aloof manner should push him away, but he cannot ignore his attraction for the woman or his need to help her out.

The question is—can Jamie overcome Margo’s reticence towards love and build a proper life with her & Emma? Or will she let old fears and prejudices keep the hunky village doctor at arm’s length?

Warning: Contains thoroughly British sensibility and humour, as well as a charm-your-socks-off doctor, tween angst, & a damsel not-exactly-in-distress but who’d welcome the help, anyway …

EXCERPT

So maybe that was the wrong thing to think about.

She steered the car through the familiar bends of the road from Salt Devil to Danny’s place, not needing to really pay much attention to what she was doing. She could make the drive with a bag over her head. Could probably drive all around Lansing that way and never miss a beat.

Unlike her heart, which was bumping just that little bit too quickly to let her fool herself into thinking she didn’t have a rapidly developing case of, to quote Ivy, “flaming panties,” when it came to Caleb White.

Well, her panties were just going to have to cool it a little longer.

She let her left hand drift out the open window, fingers spread to catch the night air rushing against her skin so one part of her body had a chance to feel cool. “My mom would tell you that’s a terrible habit,” Caleb said. His voice sounded lower in the darkness.

Rumblier.

Sexier.

Engine vibrations. That was it. Blame it on the roar of whatever supercharged monster engine Will had put into the Mustang. That was what was making his voice sound so good.

Note to self: Drive the Prius if you ever have to share a car with this man again.

“I know this road. There’s nothing I could possibly catch my hand on.” She turned her head slightly to look at him for a second. He’d lowered his window too, his elbow resting on the window frame, his fingers gripped around the top. “And hello, pot, kettle, black. You do not have all limbs inside the vehicle, Mr. White.”

“My hand isn’t sticking out,” he said.

“And what would your mom say about that response?” “She’d tell me not to be a smart-ass.”

“I think I like your mom. What does she do?” “She’s a doctor. I think she’d like you too.”

Faith shook her head. Nope to him getting any kind of wrong idea. “I’m not really the kind of girl mothers approve of.”

“Why not?”

“Rock star dad. Tattoos. Not interested in settling down.”

“You have tattoos?” he said, sounding intrigued. “I hadn’t noticed.”

“That’s because so far you haven’t seen any parts of me where they’re noticeable.”

“I see.” He sounded even more intrigued. “But they’re somewhere a mom might see them?”

“I think it’s more the alcoholic-rock-star–womanizing- dad thing than the tattoos. My family’s reputation precedes me. They think I’m going to have my wicked way with their precious boys and break their hearts.”

“Are you meeting these moms via time travel? That all sounds very nineteen fifties to me,” he said. “And just so you know, I am on board with wicked ways.”

She laughed at that. “In my experience, most men are.” “Maybe the men you meet are smarter than their moms.”

“Oh no.” She pulled her hand back in the window as the approached the turn-off to Danny’s drive. “The moms have my number. I’m not the marrying kind, as they used to say.”

“Really?” He sounded skeptical. “Trust me.”

“I take it this is you telling me that if I ever get to sample your wicked ways, I should beware?”

She tried to ignore the way the rumble underscoring “wicked ways” made her want to invent some very wicked ways on the spot. Dammit. “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.” She pulled into the drive, rolled the car to a stop outside the gate. “And, not to change the subject or anything, but we’re here.”

Caleb blinked. “So I see. Any point in me asking you in for a nightcap?”

As much as part of her wanted to say “hell yes,” she shook her head. “Not tonight.”

“Rain check on that too?” “We’ll see.”

“All right,” he said. He didn’t sound that put out. She didn’t know if that was good or whether she should be a little insulted. Caleb undid his seatbelt and turned to face her. “Then I’ll say good night. And I’ll tell you one more thing.” He slid a little closer along the seat and leaned toward her. Not too close. Giving her plenty of time to tell him to back off. To say no.

She stayed right where she was. Pinned in place by the weight of that blue gaze and the pounding in her chest and the heat suddenly burning through her again. She tried to sound casual. “What’s that?”

“The same thing I tell my mom when she’s butting into my love life. That I’m a big boy and I can take care of myself.” He leaned in close, until his mouth was hovering only a couple of inches from hers. “Also, that I believe that when you’ve beaten a girl at pool and hitched a lift with her in a Mustang that it’s only polite to kiss her good night.”

“Oh,” was all she had time to say before he closed his mouth over hers.

She couldn’t pretend she hadn’t thought about what it might be like to kiss him over the last few hours. What sort of kiss it might be. Most of her first kisses had been the hot, fiery, let’s-get-naked-fast kind.

Caleb White was undeniably hot but this kiss was . . . different. His mouth coaxed hers, gently, his hand cup- ping the back of her neck. Each tiny change in angle he made seemed to connect with a different nerve. First her lips were tingling, then hot, and then the heat spread out and down from there in a molten rush.

She opened her mouth and tasted him, tasted whiskey and man and heat. He groaned but he held her there, suspended with him in the dark, focused just on him and the places their bodies touched. She wanted more. Wanted closer.

But as she swayed toward him, tried to slide around in the seat so she could get nearer, he pulled back, leaving her startled by his sudden absence.

“Good night, Faith Harper,” he said. And then he was out of the car walking away from her, vanishing into the night when he stepped beyond the reach of the head- lights, leaving her wondering exactly what the hell had just happened.

Harper Sloan Announcement

It's no secret that the Corps Security and Hope Town crew are close to my heart. Not only did they begin it all, but they've continued to steal my soul since book 1. Because of this, I couldn't be more excited that some of my favorite authors in the world have joined in to give them a new and exciting breath. With them and these new stories, we get to jump back in with some of our favorite cast and crew. You never really know what you'll get, but one things certain, you'll be within the world we all know and love while enjoying a little sexiness from their own worlds. It's got me so excited, I can't handle it!  I hope you all enjoy this next step with the new Kindle Worlds branch; Corps Security in Hope Town COMING SEPTEMBER 26!

Love,

Harper

JB Salsbury – Fighting For Honor
New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author JB Salsbury brings her Fighting series to Harper Sloan’s Hope Town in this Kindle Worlds exclusive, Fighting for Honor.

UFL fighter Caleb hasn’t been to Hope Town since he was eighteen. His next big fight takes place in Atlanta and the serene lakefront home from his childhood is the perfect place to train without distractions.

Until he stumbles downstairs to find a woman in his house. He’s met her before, and he’s never forgotten.

Honor was raised by her grandfather, Crazy Colonel Cartwright. Ostracized at a young age she was an outcast. Combined with her awkward personality and she became the local bully’s favorite plaything.

Honor and Caleb come face-to-face and feelings from fourteen years ago come rushing back—not all of them good.

She prefers to remain unknown, but she’s seen in public with the world’s most talked about fighter and thrust into a national spotlight that catches the attention of her childhood tormentors.

And they aren’t finished with her yet.

Felicia Lynn: How To Breathe

I can’t go back to the man I was any more than I can forget the memories locked inside me. Few men qualified for the mission and even fewer were willing to accept the required life sentence. Counting the days, good and bad, I exist as the world keeps spinning.

There’s a price to pay for a life with a greater purpose, but the healing of time is a damn liar. I’m supposed to be a dead man, and the silence couldn’t be more deafening. Even though I could never look back, I thought I’d taken enough out of that life to carry me forward. The success of the mission was meant to give the tragedy of my life meaning, but I’ve been stuck in this wreckage of my past . . . until now.

One look into her eyes disarms me. These walls I’ve built shouldn’t break on their own, but they crumble whenever she’s near. I’ve spent years waiting for a reason to breathe again, and now that I have her within reach, I’m not sure I can keep her. Is it possible to find both the missing piece of my soul and the remedy to my healing in one set of bright green eyes?

JM Walker: For You

Brogan Tapp tries to be strong. Guilt and fear that the man she loves will fall within himself and not know how to find his way out, haunts her.

Coby Porter vows not to let the demons in his mind take over. He plans a trip to save his relationship, once and for all.

Hope Town, Georgia is the saving grace for their love, before the nightmares consume them both.

SR Watson – Deliverance

Bleu Loren

My life has never been my own. I've always been a rule follower—the obedient girl who always did what she was told. I played the part given to me and got engaged to the man my parents set me up with. He was supposed to be my Prince Charming. He promised me a happily ever after, only he delivered a nightmare instead. Now I'm on the run. No money. No plan. Just freedom. How ironic is it that my desperate escape lands me in a place called Hope Town? I lost hope a long time ago.

Beau Rivers Lair

I'm a manwhore. It's a known fact and exactly how I like it. I make my own rules and live without expectations. Returning to Hope Town to help the woman who raised me with her restaurant meant my past was here to greet me, but I refuse to allow the mirage of possibilities to engulf me a second time around. I don't believe in love or fairy-tale endings. There's lust, and there's screwing. I don't have time for anyone or anything outside of these two principles. There is no hope for me. Accept it or not ... you've been warned!

Somethin’ Bad by Cat Mason

Tequila can make a woman do somethin’ stupid.

Somethin’ bad…

After celebrating my birthday with my best friends turns into the most embarrassing night of my life, the last thing I expected was to see him walk into my bakery. The sexy smile on his face lets me know that he has no intention of letting me off the hook either. He doesn’t want an apology or an explanation.

He wants me.

The way Matt Hudson crashes into my life and bosses me around as if he has known me all my life is frustrating. What’s even worse is the power he has to bring me to my knees with the flash of one his panty-melting smiles. He steals my control without even trying.

Makes me want.

Makes me need.

Even when my life begins to unravel right before my eyes, there is a part of me hoping that the man my friends have dubbed Hunk P.D. may be something good to come out of all my heartache.

He lay down on the bed and pulled her into his arms before tugging the bedding over the two of them. It was a little damp in places because of all their ice play, and he smiled at the reminder. “What I am into is finding out what the person I’m with wants to try. I’m into good old missionary on a Sunday morning when I’m hungover and just want to get off. I’m into sex in a field while hiking or on the deck of my cottage. Some days, I’m into trying a hundred different positions before getting off. I’m into cuffs and toys and exploring. I’m not into being called Sir, or hurting someone, or expecting submission. I just want to explore, and I want to find someone who wants to do that with me.”

“Hmm.”

“Hmm? What are you into?” he asked, kissing her forehead.

“It would appear to be you. I’m into you, Elliott. And missionary position. And outdoor sex. And a hundred positions. And I’d really like to figure out whether a reverse cowgirl is really a thing.”

Elliott barked out a laugh. “Reverse cowgirl?”

Kendalee chuckled. “Yeah. Like . . . your . . . you know . . . it doesn’t naturally bend that way, right?”

“Oh Lord, woman. It’s got quite the range of movement, but next up, we’re going reverse cowgirl.”

They lay in silence, and Elliott clicked off the light.

“Elliott?”

“Yeah, Lee.”

“Don’t make me fall in love with you. I’m not sure my heart is quite ready for it yet.”

His own heart skipped a beat at her declaration.

Because it meant she was thinking about it. About him, that way.

“Can’t help you with that one, honey. It’s probably the only thing I can’t do for you.”

Kendalee sighed against him, burrowing closer into his side. “Thought so.”

Elliott smiled as he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.

I have been dying for more of this series since Jordan's book. (Which was brilliant by the way) Elliot is a great guy, the things he has been through is horrible. He had no childhood it was robbed from him and it's something he will never forget. All he ever wanted was a family that luv him for who he was and he found that in his band Preload. The guys meet in a home years ago and they have been together ever since they so have there own problems but together they help each other. But lately Elliott was seeing some of his band members getting there own little family and he wanted that so much but he didn't think he could ever have that. He was still dealing with some heavy problems and they could get in the way of him having a family if he couldn't get things under control.

Kendalee is a hard working protective mother see would do anything for her teen son Daniel and at the min Daniel needs her more than anything. Kendalee as been through so much the least few year her husband is a cheat and causes drama and then there is the hard times she is going through with Daniel. That poor boy had me in tears throughout this book my heart broke for him. A little boy shouldn't have to go through what he did and he needed his family more than ever. But his mum is the only person he can trust and that was hard for him. Kendalee put her son first and always will but when she saw her son talking to the very sexy Elliott she starts feeling things she hasn't in a long while and she actually thought she shouldn't feel them she was still married and he looked younger than her but whatever he was talking to him about she hadn't seen that look on his face in a while and she could help them get a lil stronger.

These two characters have been through so much but together they seem to gel. They both have a lot to deal with and a lot of healing to do. There sexy chemistry is so strong that they find it hard to keep away from each other and with Elliott an his sexy texts talk and being a great guy it's hard not to fall for him. The way he his with Daniel just melted my heart so much. I thought no one from This band could take over Jordan I luv him so much but Elliott is up there with him. I could talk about him for ages there is just so much he did in this book that I luvd.

This book has me a wreck by the time it was finished. But I luvd every minute of it it was amazing. The story has me ducked in from the very start and till the very end. I couldn't get enough of it. This author really knows how to keep your attention. When you think the story is going to start calming down a little it take another turn and get even better. She really knows how to put a story together and come up with story lines that are amazing.

I would highly recommend this book. It can be read as a standalone but I would read the first book first. You get to see the rest of the guys in this book and it's another thing that I luv about this book is that you get to know more about them. The author also likes to tease you with what could happen with the other guys as well. I need Nikan's book so much right now. Overall there wasn't a thing that I didn't like about this book. Brilliant.

Elliott Redeemed is the second in Scarlett Cole's Preload series, and follows Elliott Dawson as he meets a kid who he can relate to about his deepest secrets. Elliott also meets the kid's mom and feels an undeniable pull to her that he's never experienced before. Something about this mother and son force him to come to terms with parts of his life that he would rather forget. But Kendalee also brings out his protective side and Elliott refuses to just leave the struggling single mom alone to face her worries.

This book had me in tears, and these characters broke my heart. Elliott was such a strong character and I really admired him for never giving up on Kendalee and her son, Daniel. But what really made me love him was when we got to see how vulnerable he was around Daniel and how well he handled that situation. He never gave up on them and I really loved how determined he was when it came to their well being.

Kendalee was going through the toughest time in her life, and she she wasn't really sure how she was going to handle. So when Elliott came around offering his help, even though she was a little hesitant to take it, she eventually did. I liked how much she cared for her son and would do anything for him, but I also liked that she didn't stop herself from living her own life. Elliott was there for her when no one else was, and she never pushed him away like many would have done. I really liked her character for that reason, and I found her to be the perfect person for Elliott.

I did have a little issue with the ending and felt like it could have ended with more of an answer on a few things. But that didn't stop me from loving this book and these characters. I am in love with all of these band members, and I'm already counting down the days until we can get more of them.

Rivals. Rules. Regrets. For the first time in Easton’s life, wearing a Royal crown isn’t enough. He’s about to learn that the higher you start, the harder you fall.

I've loved this series since the first book Paper Princess which is Ella and Reeds book. I met Easton in that book and I loved him he's funny sexy and just a good guy. Yes he can be annoying at times but you just can't help liking him. In this book you really get into Easton's head and God is it complicated. There is so much to know about him. Easton is a really popular guy he's liked by everyone but having the Royal name puts you high in society. Which comes with girls throwing themselves at him. He doesn't do girlfriends there just to complicated. But once he meets Hartley after getting himself in a situation (which he does quite a lot) he can't seem to get her out of his head. She's not the girls he normally goes for but there is something mysterious about her and she wants nothing to do with him which just makes thing even better for Easton there isn't a girl that doesn't like him. So him liking her now just made thing interesting.

Hartley is a quiet girl up can tell from the start that she has been through some hard time. She is now in Bayview after being awash for 3 years. All she wanted to do was keep her head down do her work and not cause any attention to herself. But having Easton Royal following you everywhere drew the unwanted attention right to her. She tried so hard to stay away and she didn't manage to get away from him at times but let's be honest what Easton wants her gets. My heart did go out to Hartley. She is a great girl and his funny and the relationship she has with Easton is great. She keeps him on his toes and he needs a girl like that.

This story had me hooked from the very first page. It was so good it was great to get to more of Ella would of loved a lil more of Reed (yes I know it's not his book but come on its hard to not want more of him). Easton is a great character and one of my favorites in this series. It was so good to see him grow in this book. I did feel sorry for him in parts cause he does so stupid things but he doors it mean to. I just wanted to hug him so hard. I m dying to know more there are so many question that I need answering. The ending yes there is a cliffy and huge one which leaves you just wanting more and had my wanted to throw my kindle at the wall it's that bad.

I would highly recommended this series. If you haven't read the other books where have you been. It's one of my all time favorites and it just keeps getting better and better. You won't be disappointed once you get into this crazy royal world.

I don't even know what to say about this book in order to describe how I feel about it. There's just so much that I want to scream from the rooftops, so I'm sure my review will end up being nothing more than a jumbled mess. You've been warned.

In Fallen Heir Easton Royal is now the reigning King of the school and back to his old ways of partying too hard and fighting too much. The school is his playground and he feels like he can do whatever he wants there. Until Hartley Wright transfers and is completely unimpressed with the "King". Easton is enthralled with the black haired beauty that looks at him with contempt, and he makes it his mission to get her on his side, no matter what it takes.

Hartley's character won me over and I loved how she wasn't falling all over Easton when he wanted her too. She was very aloof and I think it mixed perfectly with Easton's cocky attitude. Their constant back and forth bickering had me captivated and I couldn't wait to see who would come out on top once their battles were over. Hartley, in my opinion, was a unique character and I loved getting to know her and her secrets. There is still a lot to learn though, and she's the character that has me ready to stalk these authors and force them to give me the next book right away.

Easton was, of course, amazing. But he was also the character that had me feeling a little iffy at parts. From seeing him in the first three books of the Royals to now I felt like he changed and was back to his playboy ways, where at the end of Twisted Palace I felt like Ella had calmed him some. Now he was back to being self destructive, and while I did like that at parts, it also annoyed me some since I was looking forward to a more mature Easton. The reason I liked it though was because I felt like it really showcased how vulnerable he was and it made me want to just hold him tight and promise that everything would be okay.

Hartley and Easton together, though, completely swoon worthy. They could battle it out with the best of them but when they actually gave in to one another I think my Kindle was going to explode. We're talking sexual tension on ever single line and it had me at the edge of my seat.

Overall, this is a book that I thoroughly enjoyed. Even with the little issues I had with Easton and the fact that sometimes the story moved a little slow. There was just so much that kept me intrigued and I loved that about it. This is a family that I will follow all the way to the end, and I'm already dying to get my hands on the next book.

I rescued Sabrina from a mafia bloodbath when she was thirteen. Doing right by her became a priority for me, even while I was busy as the new head of the Philly syndicate. I sent her to the best boarding schools and kept her as far away from the life as possible. It worked perfectly. Until she turned 18. Until she came home. Until I realized that the timid girl was gone and in her place lived a smart mouth, a wicked imagination, and a body that demanded my attention. Who am I? I’m F*cked. Nice to meet you.

Beard in Mind, an all new standalone in the bestselling, romantic comedy Winston Brothers Series by Penny Reid, is available NOW!

All is fair in love and auto maintenance.

Beau Winston is the nicest, most accommodating guy in the world. Usually.

Handsome as the devil and twice as charismatic, Beau lives a charmed life as everyone’s favorite Winston Brother. But since his twin decided to leave town, and his other brother hired a stunning human-porcupine hybrid as a replacement mechanic for their auto shop, Beau Winston’s charmed life has gone to hell in a handbasket.

Shelly Sullivan is not nice and is never accommodating. Ever.

She mumbles to herself, but won’t respond when asked a question. She glares at everyone, especially babies. She won’t shake hands with or touch another person, but has no problems cuddling with a dog. And her damn parrot speaks only in curse words.

Beau wants her gone. He wants her out of his auto shop, out of Tennessee, and out of his life.

The only problem is, learning why this porcupine wears her coat of spikes opens a Pandora’s box of complexity—exquisite, tempting, heartbreaking complexity—and Beau Winston soon discovers being nice and accommodating might mean losing what matters most.

Excerpt:

She’d taken the sofa, in her own house, and given me the bed. That didn’t make a lick of sense.

I crouched next to her, threading my fingers into the silky hair at her temples. “Honey.”

EXCERPT

The door slammed and she suddenly found herself with her back against it. Brody crowded in, taking up all the space and staring down at her. His body brushed hers and she found both her wrists captured in one of his. He dragged them over her head, forcing her chest to come out, breasts skimming along his body. “I shouldn’t do this.”

Tough chick was winning. Steph let her take over. It was surely better than the desperate girl who lived inside her. She kept asking for love and affection and getting swatted away. This was the next best thing, possibly the only thing she would ever get. “Then don’t. Let me go and I won’t bother you again.”

“No, you’ll go find Ezra Fain and bother him,” Brody said on a growl.

“Somehow, I don’t think he’ll find me a bother.” She’d barely spoken two words to the man, but she wasn’t going to admit it. It was better to let Brody think she wasn’t a love-starved girl.

“He won’t fucking find you anything at all. If you’re determined to not sleep alone tonight, you can damn well do it with me.” His mouth came down on hers and every inch of her skin came alive. His kiss was overwhelming, hungry. There was no slow meshing of mouths. He took her, his tongue surging inside and dominating her own. He let go of her hands and started to explore her body. His hands were on her hips when he came up for air. “I’m leaving in the morning. I’m going back to London and I can’t come back.”

She’d known that would probably be his answer. She’d known he wouldn’t want to stay and she couldn’t leave.

“One night. That’s all I want.” It was all she could have. It had been foolish to think it could be any different.

His mouth came down on hers again and she let herself get swept away. One night and her life would go back to normal. One night and then she would be alone again. His hands started to roam over her and she tried to forget all the reasons why this was a bad idea.

He stepped back, his entire body set in hard lines. He strode over to the bed and sat down. “Take off the gown. It’s pretty, but I want to see you.”

She hesitated, all her insecurities coming to the forefront. Somehow, she’d thought he would simply take her. “Let me get the lights.”

He was back in her space again, his hand wrapping around her wrist. “I didn’t say turn off the lights. I said take off the gown. How am I going to see you if you turn off the lights?”

“Brody,” she began.

He was having none of it. “You got on your knees in front of me and you said you knew what you were offering me. The first thing you were offering me was obedience. The second was your body. You’re giving me neither right now.”

His voice had gone midnight dark and something about the tone made her soften. He was right. She did know what she’d offered him and now she was trying to have it all her way.

There was nothing wrong with her body. It was feminine and she was healthy. What was she afraid of? “All right.”

He let go of her wrist and sat back down, looking like a damn king waiting on his concubine’s performance. For all his “I’m nothing but a grunt” talk, the man could be incredibly arrogant, and damn if she didn’t find it sexy as hell.

Something about that voice let her know that everything was going to be fine. He was past the point of rejection. He was in and that meant he would play her Dom for the night. He would take care of her. She was as safe with him in the bedroom as she’d been in the field.

At least she was safe for the night. In the morning she would be in a world of hurt, but she wasn’t thinking past tonight.

This book was actually really hard for me to rate and I had to think on it for quite awhile. The story I did like and it kept me very intrigued, but the characters are what has me conflicted. While I did like them for the most part, there were many times that I had issues with their actions.

Brody was actually the character that had me the most nervous before I even picked this book up, yet he turned out to be the character I liked the most. I really loved how he went all-in once he knew the complete story about Stephanie, and he didn't run scared. And despite his actions as being the first to leave their semi-relationship in the prologue he was ready to jump back into Steph's life, which I liked. But it was the ending that had me ready to throat punch him and made all of those positive feelings I had for his character a little dimmer. He and Steph had one big fight at the end and it actually made me hate both of them. Brody was able to stay pretty well liked in my eyes, but Stephanie, whom I was already struggling with, went right to the top of my shit list in the course of this fight.

Stephanie had her reasons for being angry, and for keeping the secrets that she did. Those secrets weren't my issue with her character. Throughout this whole book there were many times that her inner dialogue annoyed me to no end as she rambled on about how she was a bad person and how she deserved every bad thing that happened in her life. If this wasn't such a frequent occurrence I could have gotten past it with no issue, but seeing as it happened a lot, I just couldn't. And then when we got to the end and she seemed to have no issue with given up on someone that did not deserve her no-care attitude, I was done with her character. That one scene took her from being a heroine that I didn't particularly like to a heroine that I wish never got a HEA.

The thing that saved this book for me was how much I enjoyed the BDSM aspect of it and that Ms. Blake did more club scenes like we used to see in the earlier books from this series. And there was a little more action which I really liked. So even though I couldn't fully connect to these characters as a couple I still enjoyed the overall story about them. Now I will just sit patiently and wait for Tucker's story which I hope will come sometime in the near future of this series.
