Behind the Bars

Behind the Bars, the first beautiful and emotional standalone in the all-new Music Street Series from Brittainy C. Cherry is LIVE!

Behind the Bars by Brittainy C. Cherry
Release Date: December 7th, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

When I first met Jasmine Greene, she came in as raindrops.

I was the awkward musician, and she was the high school queen.
The only things we had in common were our music and our loneliness.

Something in her eyes told me her smile wasn’t always the truth.
Something in her voice gave me a hope I always wished to find.

And in a flash, she was gone.

Years later, she was standing in front of me on a street in New Orleans.
She was different, but so was I. Life made us colder. Harder. Isolated.

Caged.

Even though we were different, the broken pieces of me recognized the sadness in her.
Now she was back, and I wouldn’t make the mistake of letting her go again.

When I first met Jasmine Greene, she came in as raindrops.
When we met again, she was the darkest storm.

I'm starting to have suspicions that Brittainy C. Cherry might have stock in a Tissue company because she keeps writing these books that have me going through an entire box of tissues. Seriously, she pushes my tear ducts to the extreme.

Behind The Bars starts off with Jasmine and Elliott in High School where they first meet. For me, this was the most emotional part of the story and the whole first half of the story had my heart continuously shattering into pieces. Hit after hit kept coming at them and I was ready to scream at the universe for making these people go through so much pain...and then I had to remind myself they were fictional.

What kept me sane through all of that was seeing how Jasmine and Elliott helped each other. Even when the book skipped to them as adults and Elliott was trying to push Jasmine away she was there for him and it started to put my shattered heart back together. Sounds cliche, I know, but I swear that's what it felt like while I was reading.

Overall, this book is a hugely recommended one but it comes with the warning to not read in public unless you want to look a little crazy when you bust into tears. And also have some tissues handy.
