Used

This is all of me. The good, the bad, the used, and the broken…

Heartbreakingly beautiful and completely engrossing, A young woman's life takes a disturbing and utterly fascinating turn as the past she's put behind comes back to haunt her.  USED is packed full of twists, turns, and a gripping romance sure to leave readers emotionally spent and asking for more.

USED, a brand new standalone romantic suspense from debut author Kate Dunbar is OUT NOW! Grab your copy today!

At the age of seventeen, after a decade of lies, hurt, and severe abuse by her brother Lucas, Sabra Valentine is able to breathe.

Lucas is behind bars thanks in large part to Sabra's quick thinking and self-preservation-even if that's one more secret she has to keep.

Now, seven years later, life is moving forward, and Sabra is starting to heal, live, and love again with her friends and Trevor Collins by her side. He's tall, dark, and sexy, and he doesn't fall for Sabra's games. The future is finally looking bright-until one phone call shatters everything.

Used is a romantic suspense with domestic thriller elements. Please be aware that there are topics that may be triggers for some readers, and this work is meant for mature readers.

Used is Kate Dunbar's debut novel but with the way this book captivated me I would have never guessed. The story follows Sabra Valentine as she's thrust back into her past fears all while trying to move on with her life. I really liked how Sabra's character was depicted and how we got to see every anxiety inducing worry she had played out. The realistic portrayal of her fear made the book even more intriguing and had me gripping my Kindle and feeling just as anxious as Sabra's character. The best part of this book was the raw and unfiltered fear that came off of the pages whenever Sabra's past was brought back into her life.

The fact that Sabra's character was so realistic, though, actually made me want more details of her past. And maybe that's my gruesome, true crime loving brain but there were times that it just felt like the story was holding back because we were getting hints at her past and seeing some of it but not the truly bad parts of it. For me that actually took away from the story and at one point even had me wondering if I was wrong in what I thought had happened.

Overall, this was an amazing book to read and I will certainly be waiting for more from this author. The romance blended really well with the suspense and I adored Sabra's love interest, Trevor, and how he didn't get pushed too far in the background. The main focus was definitely Sabra and her story but Trevor added a lot of interesting moments.
