Overruled (Book 1)
As a DC defense attorney, Stanton Shaw keeps his head cool, his questions sharp, and his arguments irrefutable. They don’t call him the Jury Charmer for nothing – with his southern drawl, disarming smile and captivating green eyes – he’s a hard man to say no to. Men want to be him and women want to be thoroughly cross examined by him.
Stanton’s a man with a plan. And for a while, life was going according to that plan.
Until the day he receives an invitation to the wedding of his high school sweetheart and mother of his beloved ten-year old daughter. Jenny is getting married — to someone who isn’t him.
That's definitely not part of the plan.
Sofia Santos is a city raised, no-nonsense litigator who plans to become the most revered criminal defense attorney in the country. She doesn’t have time for relationships or distractions.
But when Stanton, her "friend with mind-blowing benefits" begs for help, she finds herself out of her element, out of her depth, and obviously out of her mind. Because she agrees to go with him – to The-Middle-Of-Nowhere, Mississippi – to do all she can to help Stanton win back the woman he loves.
Her head tells her she's crazy...and her heart says something else entirely.
What happens when you mix a one stop-light town, two professional arguers, a homecoming queen, four big brothers, some Jimmy Dean sausage and a gun-toting Nana?
The Bourbon flows, passions rise and even the best laid plans get overruled by the desires of the heart.

This book started a lil different than normal an was a lil shocked but have 2 say I luvd it Stanton an Jenny knew what they wanted from life an there plans were goin well until a lil bump got in the way but Jenny bein the carin girlfriend that she is wanted Stanton 2 carry on with what he had planned so off 2 New York he went but Jenny said they should have an open relationship (what a girl it wouldn't b me) so u can c where this goes but it does go a lot better than I thought
So fast forward 10 yrs an Stanton is the hot shot lawyer workin with the very sexy Sofia they work very well 2gether in more ways than 1 they r both very focus in what they want but they r so good 2gether in work an in bed they r just sizzling an have great sexual chemistry Sofia know about Jenny an Presley an she fine with it but when Stanton get an invite in the post that would change everything he mad really mad so he had no choice 2 go back home an fight 4 what is his but he needs his sidekick 2 go with him
I liked Stanton straight away but wanted 2 slap him a good few time he needs 2 know what women say is not alway what me mean but he is a man I luvd the way he was with Sofia an the way he fought 4 Jenny was good but it was a lil confusing at times I could understand what Jenny was telling Stanton he just couldn't c through his horny eyes I just want him 2 let Jenny do her thing an c Sofia 4 more than a friend's with benefits so Ye I did really want 2 slap him quite a few times
I thought Sofia was very sexy an the way she held herself was great cause I think I would of fell apart loads but she just held her head up an went with it but there is only so much a girls can take but I don't think I could of gone with Stanton back home but it did make them closer
I really enjoyed this book an we even got a lil more of the ever sexy Drew Evans which is alway a bonus God I luv him ;)
Overall great story characters great an I would recommend it I luv the tangled series loads so was a lil worried about this book but it was great xxx
This series has been on my TBR for what feels like forever and I kept skipping it even though I was hearing amazing things about it. So clearly I'm crazy and someone needs to put me in the looney bin.
I really enjoyed reading about Stanton and Sofia, and I liked the sexual tension that was present throughout the majority of the book. It was a little bit like a friends-to-lovers story and I loved that about these two characters. That they stayed friends through the whole book and there wasn't much drama to go with their relationship.
As mush as I liked seeing them be friends, though, I really wanted to see more of them being together as more. I'm not a fan of when it takes the main characters more than half the book to figure their shit out and get together and the fact that it took so long lost me. On top of that while they weren't together Stanton was trying to get back with his ex and had the thought that they were "meant to be together" even though they hadn't been for years. It was just an odd situation that threw me off and made this book less enjoyable for me.
Overall, I did like Stanton and Sofia and the times that they were together. I wish there was more of that to see but it didn't make the book a total loss for me that there wasn't. I would definitely still recommend this book.
Emma Chase is one of my favorite authors, I loved her Tangled series and it will forever be one of my favs. I believe that she writes the best male povs and that all of her books are hilarious, sexy and sweet.
Unfortunately, I didn't get the same good vibes from this one.
In all of my reviews, I always point out that my opinion could be different from yours. There are some things that didn't let me enjoy this book, but there are really good reviews and ratings out there,so don't let my opinion prevent you from reading it.
Stanton and Sofia are two lawyers working for the same firm. They are not just collegues; they're friends who love to have sex together.
Stanton doesn't want a relationship, he knows who his heart belongs to. Even though he's not with her at the moment, he knows that no matter what, it belongs to Jenny, his first love and the mother of his beautiful daughter. That's why, when he learns that Jenny is getting married, he's shocked and he wants to do anything to win her back.
When he leaves for his hometown, he begs Sofia to go with him, because she is his right wing at work and he needs her with him. Will they really be able to pretend that what they have between them doesn't exist? Will they be able to hide the attraction they feel for each other?
Was Sofia really the main female character in the story?? Seriously?? I really liked Sofia, don't get me wrong, I could easily say that she was the character I liked the most, but I think that she was just a shadow in the story. She acted behind the curtains and Jenny and Stanton were the two main protagonists in the story.
What about Stanton...well..If you ask my friend Karez, she will tell you that I tried to apologize and understand him at the beginning of the story. Unfortunately, after a while it was too much.
There were too many random things in the story and trust me when I say that it was hard to read this book. Firstly, because I was disappointed that the story wasn't gripping me like I expected it to, secondly, because Stanton was constantly pissing me off.
I liked some scenes and the author is Emma Chase, so yes I didn't enjoy it too much, but I didn't even hate the book. It was an okay read..but like I said, I believe that this is the case 'it's me, not the book'.
.
If I had read the blurb before starting it( I read it months ago and my memory sucks and I obviously forgot about it), I may have been prepared for it. The setting of the story kind of threw me off. (view spoiler)
With that being said, I love this author and I will be anxiously awaiting for all of her new books.
Sustained (Book 2)
A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.
When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.
Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.
Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I'm going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and arguing cases in the principal's office.
Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids.
And that — that, I know how to do.

Jake is a total ladies man an he does hide he luv sex an woman he does want or need a relationship when he can have who he want until he get a lil friend that he definitely doesnt want so he decides he needs to start thinkin about what he is doin with al the women so decides to think about dating but nothing serious he knows what he want from life an it's not to b tied down with a woman an kids his career means a lot he never thought he would b where he his now if it wasn't for a dear friend who kicked his ass an god did he need it when he was younger an when he bumps into a boy in the street an then finds out he robbed his wallet he goes after him an takes him back home but he did expect to see a very beautiful woman answer the door but he didn't see what was coming when he went through the door
Chelsea's life as been turned upside down over the last few month her bro an sis in law died in a car accident an left behind there gorgeous children so know Chelsea is the guardian of 6 nieces an nephews yes 6 so Chelsea's life it pretty hectic an when Jake sees this it's a bit intimidating but there is something about Chelsea that's he's attracted to an it's needs to b explored but Chelsea doesn't have time for relationship the kids r her main priority but Jake seems to want to get to know them al but does he need the distraction when this wasn't part of his plan
This book was so good but I knew it would b I luvd al the book by this author so far an the first book to this series was great to so I knew I d luv this I thought Jake was super sexy big strong with super hot tattoo's an a man in a suit just does hot things to me once these get around to the sexy time they r like teenagers dyin 4 each other an once they start they just can't stop but findin peace around kids is a challenge but Jake does let them get in the way god he is super hot
It was really good to get more of Stanton an Sofia an I can't wait for Brents book getting the lil teaser just killed me I m dyin for that book now there is so many things I luvd about this book the kids are great I luvd Roseleen she is so funny an cute an kept Jake on his toes the story had so humour in it an sad parts where I could of slapped Jake an like I said it was super sexy I highly recommend this book an any of Emma Chase's she is an amazing author an knows how to write a great book xxx
Hands down, the best book in this series. I absolutely adored Jake and his ability to make me swoon like no other. Seeing him be so sweet and thoughtful with, not only Chelsea but her nieces and nephews too, was amazing and I loved him for being able to do that. The dude even sang One Direction to one of the younger girls. I feel like that says it all.
I also really liked him with Chelsea and he was just as caring with her. Chelsea was only okay for me and I felt like we never truly got to know her character but I was honestly okay with it. Jake shined enough to the both of them in this story.
Bottom line, you definitely need to read this book. Characters from the first book were part of it but it can be read as a standalone. All you need to know is that Jake is amazing, the story is steamy with some humor thrown in, and that you will be missing out if you don't read this book.
Appealed (Book 3)
When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn’t see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman…who wants to crush the most intimate - and prized - parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Christian Louboutins.
Brent has never let the loss of his leg in a childhood accident affect his ability to lead a fulfilling life. He sets high goals–and then he reaches them.
And now he has his sights set on Kennedy.
**
When Kennedy looks at Brent Mason, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue-worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell.
She’s not a lovesick social outcast anymore - she’s a DC prosecutor with a long winning streak behind her. Brent is the opposing attorney in her next case and she thinks it’s time to put him through a little hell of his own.
But things aren’t exactly working out that way.
Because every fiery exchange has her wondering if he’s as passionate in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom. Each argument and objection only makes him want her more. In the end, Brent and Kennedy may just find themselves in love…or in contempt of court.

I luv how al Emma Chase's books start there so good an start with a bang an after readin the epilogue of the last book I was dyin for Brent's story he's so funny an sexy what more could u want he's the last guy to settle down he as lost both of his wing men he as his mother on his case about findin a wife so she can have grandchildren so when he is at a kids party is mother is holding well it's not much of a kids party more for the adults he is havin a crap time until he sees a gorgeous blonde he just didn't know it would b his best friend from yrs about an the girl he as never stopped thinkin about Kennedy Randolph but god as she changed no more brown hair no glasses the awkward girl as gone an is replaced with a sexy as hell woman who turns him on with a look but she as alway had that effect on him but things happened yrs ago that can't b taken back but Brent is goin to get to the bottom of what's goin on but he is goin to have to fight in every way to get her back
Kennedy as been through so much crap through school an after what happened with Brent she doesn't trust anyone an never really will she came back to get revenge on Brent an make him c what he is missin but she never expected to start havin feels for him again but she would never trust after what happened an she had to keep that in her head so she wouldnt get close to him but it's hard to take someone down who she once have strong feels for an goin against him in court was goin to b great she as never lost a case an she wasn't goin to lose 1 now to Brent
These two have so much sexual tension between them it takes Brent a lot to get Kennedy to drop her guard but once he's in he's not goin to let her walk away they r so hot together an in bed they r so hot an steamy once they get a taste of each other again they can't keep there hands of each other but Kennedy is still scared of letting him
This book was really good I enjoyed it so much I read it in a day the story was brilliant an the way Brent an Kennedy finally get together is so good I did want to slap Brent towards the end but he did put it rite thank god I luv Brents personality he's so funny an once he sets his sights on something he won't let it go I really luvd Kennedy sassy side she is so sexy but she doesn't see that an it just makes me like her more I enjoyed getting more if the others I m really not sure who I like more out of these guys there so hot an sexy I would highly recommend this book an series Emma Chases books r just amazin I 've luvd them al the way she writes is so entertaining I laugh through most of them there just AMAZIN xxx
I'm sad to see this series go but it was such a fun experience meeting these characters. Brent's the playboy of the group that has the ability to always keep things light and funny. Until Kennedy comes back into his life, that is. She was his one that got away so now he isn't going to let her leave him again even if she's the enemy in the courtroom.
Kennedy and Brent were really great together and I loved seeing how Kennedy could put Brent in his place with no problem. Them in the courtroom together was almost as good as them in the bedroom together and it really kept this book intriguing. They had an amazing banter that was full of sexual tension, which I loved seeing.
Overall, this is a series worth reading and these are characters that you need to meet.
