Carson `Joker' Steele had a shit life. His mom left, and his dad was a dick. The only beautiful thing in his like was Carissa Teodoro, the pretty cheerleader he couldn't help but stare at when he saw her in the halls of school. When it got too bad at home he got himself out, and he left to look for his beautiful life. He found it with Chaos Motorcycle Club. They became his family, the people he cared about who he knew cared about him in return.
Years later he runs into Carissa again when she's stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire and her baby on her hip. She's not the popular cheerleader that he remembers anymore. Now she has an asshole ex husband, a shitty apartment and a dead end job at a grocery store. Joker wants to give her the beautiful life he knows she deserves, but in doing so he thinks he needs to stay far away from her, not thinking he is worthy of her. Carissa, not knowing Joker is the same kid she crushed on in high school, feels an instant connection to the biker who helped her out and he's not going to get away from her as easy as he though he would. Tired of sitting back and letting life pass her by, Carissa is going to go after what she wants this time, and what she wants is the big biker who curses too much, and is sweet on her kid. 
I can't even describe in words how much I loved Joker! You just need to read this book to get the full effect of his intensity and sexiness. Once he decided Carissa was going to be his he went all in. There were no big secrets between them, and he was always there for her, protecting her, but letting her be independent at the same time. I loved how open he was with her and he was so adorable with Travis.Carissa had a lot of pain in her life but she was still such a bright person which was so great to see. She never let the past hurts affect her future She went from having the big house with a fancy lawyer husband and the nice clothes, to living in a dumb and wearing cheap clothes that she got on sale, and she never once let it bother her. All she wanted to do was to protect her son and those she cared about. Seeing her and Joker together, and how protective she was of him, made me love her character so much. Carissa has definitely just earned the spot as my favorite KA heroine.
I want to kick myself repeatedly for not giving this five stars but I just couldn't get over the fact that Carissa kept bringing up her ex and comparing him to Joker. Always saying Joker was better, but just the amount of times she said it kind of got annoying. This book though, was one of KA's best! Reading a Kristen Ashley book is a completely different experience then any other romance book out there and I will forever be a fan.
