Getting Schooled

Head of the class...

Garrett Daniels has this whole life thing figured out.

The cocky, charismatic former high school star quarterback is an idolized football coach and "cool" teacher in the hometown where he's not just a golden boy—he's platinum. He has good friends, a great house on the lake, and the best damn sidekick a man could ask for: Snoopy, the albino beagle.

Then...Callie Carpenter comes home.

And knocks him right on his tight end zone.

Back to school...

Callie has a pretty sweet life herself...on the other side of the country. But circumstances—that she'd prefer to never speak of again—have brought her back home, helping out her parents and substitute teaching at her old high school.

Now she's facing bickering, raging hormones, constant gossip, awkward weirdness, and drama galore...and that's just the teachers.

Just like old times...

When Garrett offers to show his former high school sweetheart the secrets of his winning teacher ways, Callie jumps at the chance—and then has to stop herself from jumping him.

Good friends are all they can ever be.

Or...these teachers just might end up getting schooled—hard—by love.

Getting Schooled is second-chance romance at it's finest. Garrett and Callie were high school sweethearts and thought they were destined to be together forever until life came in and proved them wrong. Now years later they're back where they started, in the towns high school, but this time as teachers. Even after years of not seeing each other, though, their connection is still there and Garrett is determined to not let Callie slip through his fingers this time.

This book was a little bit of everything. We got that High school angst which, while I'm usually not fan, I actually liked what it added to this story since it wasn't really involved with the main characters, and then we got the sweetness of Garrett and Callie falling back into each others arms after so long. I really liked the combination of everything and how it came together. There were a few things that I just didn't see the point of being in the book since they didn't add anything to the story, at least not for me, but they didn't bother me too much and didn't take my focus away from the main characters.

Overall this was a pretty light read without an overabundance of drama and instead Emma Chase gave the perfect amount of page time to these characters with not too many distractions from them. It was very enjoyable to be able to just sit down and read a well written romance with some great characters and a good dose of intrigue.

Blackburn

Blackburn
Brynne Asher
June 26, 2018

She’s my employee.

I’m her boss’s boss. Hell, I own the company.

Pursuing Lillian Burkette was a line I shouldn’t cross.

Until a work trip from hell changed everything.

I didn’t just step over the line. I annihilated the damn thing.

When it comes to her, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do. I’d even kill for her.

When they say the corporate world is a jungle … they have no idea.

Blackburn was one of Brynne Asher's shorter books, but it still packed that punch of intrigue and excitement that I love from her stories. It honestly reminded me of the books that first got me into reading, where the romance is still there but there's a lot of other things going on so it takes a backseat and is a little on the light side. Yet in this story I never missed the connection between Gabriel and Lillian. It was also pretty unconventional for a boss/employee romance and took it out of the office and right into the jungle. Crazy, right?

Overall, I loved this book and the writing really sucked me in. Really, my only complaint was that it was too short, though I always find myself sad when a book ends that had me as captivated as this one did.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Brynne Asher lives in the Midwest with her husband, three children and her perfect dog. When she isn’t creating pretend people and relationships in her head, she's running her kids around and doing laundry. She enjoys decorating and shopping, and is always seeking the best deal. A perfect day in “Brynne World" ends in front of an outdoor fire with family, friends, s’mores, and a delicious cocktail.

Going for the Hole

Title: Going for the Hole
Standalone
Author: L.P. Dover
Genre: Sports Romance/Romantic Comedy
Release Date: June 25, 2018

Blurb
Grip it softly.

Stroke it smooth.

And you’ll sink right into the hole. That’s my motto both on and off the golf course. The women come in full supply everywhere I go and there are no complaints. Maybe it’s the size of my driver that gets them going.

I’m Lucas “Ace” Montgomery, professional golfer and world record holder for the longest drive in golf history. The PGA Tour has been my life, but it’s time for a break. A few relaxing weeks of drinking and golf with friends in Myrtle Beach is what I need. However, when a bright pink ball knocks me out on the course, and a blonde beauty comes to my aid, I expect to see a gallery girl, a.k.a a member of the Party Groupie Association. Trust me, those girls know how to have fun. Although, to my surprise, it’s not what I get at all.

Dr. Ashley Locke is beautiful and everything I’d want if I was ever to get serious about someone. Unfortunately, she has no interest in me whatsoever which only makes me want her more. All she wants is to get through her friend’s bachelorette weekend and go back to her life, but after injuring me on the course, I’m not letting her run away so easily. When I want something, I get it.

I’m not competing for money this time. All I want is to win her heart.

Excerpt

“When can I see you again?”
I shook my head. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“I took a needle in the ass for you. Surely, that deserves more of your attention?”
Why did he always have to give me that devilish smile of his? As much as I wanted to hate it, I couldn’t.“Why are you doing this? Can’t you find someone else?”
“Of course I can, but I want you. We can have secret meetings in here if you’re still embarrassed to be seen in public with me.”
I rolled my eyes. “I’m not embarrassed. You’re you, and I’m a respectable member of society.”
He burst out laughing. “Okay, I see how it is.”
“I just don’t want the publicity,” I added. “You can understand that, right? You of all people should know what it’s like not to have privacy.”
His smile faded. “You’re right, I do, but it’s my life. I can’t change who I am.” My body shivered with the intensity of his stare. “For once, I thought I’d found someone who wanted me for me and not my money or fame.”
Guilt racked my body and I sighed. “Okay, I give in. I can see you tomorrow, after I get out of the spa. Maybe we can order in room service.”
Eyes twinkling, he went over to the door and opened it. “Now that’s a plan I can get behind.”
Before I could walk out, he stood in my way, body close to mine. “I’m going to break through that ice wall of yours, sunshine. One way or another.”
I batted my eyelashes in an innocent matter. “Good luck with that.”

This book was, excuse the bad pun, a hole in one. I loved the light tone to it, how fun it was, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to read about Lucas and Ashley. They were perfect together with their flirty banter and the chemistry that was so evident between them.

The story was a really easy read because once I started I got lost in the world the author created and I could just sit down and enjoy it. There was nothing that frustrated me or had me yanking my hair out in suspense, and I thought that was perfect for these characters. Instead of going crazy over their story I could just read about them together and cheer them on to get the HEA they deserved. It made me love them even more that they didn't have a ton of angst and drama and instead were both very secure in their relationship.

Overall, Going for the Hole is a book I would definitely recommend. The easy flow of writing and the perfect chemistry between these characters makes for a great read. It also has some secondary storylines that are hinted at and made me super curious about those so I can't wait to get more of those characters mentioned.

He kept his salacious secret for years. But soon, everyone is going to be reading about it in their morning paper…

THE VARLET (and the VOYEUR)

William Moore is a long way from home. A farm boy from Oklahoma, he’s now the most well-respected member of the Irish rugby team. THE VOYEUR (and the VARLET)

Josey Kavanagh is a self-proclaimed mess, but she’s finally get her shi…uh, act together. She’s set her sights on becoming a veterinarian, but there’s one teeny tiny road bump. Her living arrangements are coming to an abrupt end, leaving Josey homeless and in need of a job to pay her way through college.

THE PLAN

What he needs is a companion to keep him on the right path.

What she needs is an apartment with free rent.

Will is convinced Josey will make the perfect companion, since she’s brutally honest and basically ‘just one of the guys.’ Josey is convinced she can ensure Will doesn’t succumb to his voyeuristic proclivities by keeping a scrupulous eye on him.

Perchance something very, very volatile. And vexing.

When I saw how spotless the shared living space was, I allowed my curiosity to get the better of me and peeked my head into her bathroom, Rocky dancing around my feet as I entered the space. The counters were covered in woman-products, but the marble surface and sink were free of water spots, and the glass of the shower had been wiped clean. I glanced at Rocky. He glanced at me. Bemused, I chuckled to myself, about to turn back to the door, and that’s when I spotted it. A dildo. A big, Pyrex dildo. With ridges. In the shower. I froze, blinked, and I stared at it, my brain sluggish. Oddly, I had to remind myself to breathe. Likely because I was . . . I was— I was shocked. I shook myself, tearing my eyes from it and rubbing my chest where an odd kind of pang was spreading mild warmth up my neck. But why was I shocked? Why should I be surprised? Despite my never seeing her that way, Josey was a woman and women have needs. Don’t they? I hadn’t grown up around women—any women. My mother died when she had my youngest brother. My grandmother died before I was born. I had no sisters. We lived on a farm, way out in BFN Oklahoma. Girls—women—and their bodies were sacred lands of the unknown to us Moore boys. Unbidden—completely unbidden—an image of Josey flashed through my mind’s eye. Her full lips parted, her big eyes closed, causing her thick black lashes to catch droplets of water before they dripped over her sharp cheekbones. Her head would be lolled back as shower spray melted bubbles of slippery soap, sliding down her bare skin as they dissolved. Her legs would be parted, and maybe one hand would be braced against the wall of the shower while the other moved in a steady rhythm. Holding that huge, glass dildo. I swallowed a sudden rush of salvia and, unable to help myself, I leaned closer to the sex toy, examining it and comparing its size against my own. I was bigger. But not by much. And for some reason, this realization made me instantly hard. Crap. Of course I knew Josey was a woman, but until this moment, I’d never really thought of her that way. Not even the tampon-mountain drove the point home. Up until this point, she was someone I liked as a person, someone who made me laugh, who was smart and compassionate, someone around whom I felt completely comfortable. A good—no, a great companion. She was still all of those things, except— Except now I’ve pictured her naked.

I honestly have no clue how to write this review so I apologize in advance for how jumbled this is about to sound. The story wasn't a bad one, and I liked the writing, but I think I just didn't understand it. I didn't connect to either of these character one bit so it made it hard for me to connect to and enjoy the story.

They say first impressions matter, and well Josey did not impress me when we first met her. She's 26, in college, and living at home with her parents. And what does this 26 year old woman do after her parents inform her that they lost their money in a bad investment and will have to sell the house, won't be able to continue paying for her school, and suggest she find a place of her own? Well of course she does what any other self respecting grown woman would do...she throws an over-dramatic fit, packs her bags right then and there, and leaves with no clue where exactly she's going to actually go. With no regard for her parents who have to sell their home, but only worried about herself.

For me this all just turned me off of her character right away. Not only did she come off as very self absorbed and immature, but it's also a big pet peeve of mine to read about a character that gets mad/upset that their parents won't pay for their schooling. It is very possible to go to school without someone else paying for it. If you want it that bad there are loans, and you could work even though that does make going to school a little harder. Not impossible though, and I'm over reading about characters acting like brats just because they have to grow up and start paying their own way.

Moving on from my rant, I can say Will was an okay character and didn't annoy me as much as Josey did in the beginning. But I never felt like I knew him, and his situation is where most of my confusion came from with this story. Being a Rugby player he was in the spotlight, so when it came out that he was a voyeur and liked to watch couples being intimate, it was clearly a bad thing for his career. Especially when you throw in the prostitute that lied and said he hired her. But I didn't get the big deal about voyeurism being his kink. Secondary characters were acting like he had some addiction and had to be watched all the time, enter the heroine as a roommate, and were always trying to make sure he was okay.

I just didn't get it at all and it started to annoy me the more his kink was treated like a bad thing. Sure, it wasn't a great thing for his image but let people have their kink without feeling ashamed! And the fact that I didn't feel like it was treated that way during his own POV's just added to my confusion.

So if you made it this far in my rambling review, I'll tell you to still give this book a try if it sounds interesting for you. I can't say that this was my favorite book these authors have written, but it wasn't bad and I think a lot of people will still find it very interesting.

Here’s a tip: When you least expect it, expect it.
I’d been known to have my share of beautiful women. Usually, I met them in a bar, through a mutual acquaintance, or even when photographing them.
Imagine my surprise when a gorgeous blonde drove her car into mine on the way to a party.
No more than a minute after our run-in, a string of colorful words flew from her mouth in rapid fire.
Unexplainably, the angrier she became the harder I got. All sorts of scenarios played in my head of how I could get her to shut up. I was all for feisty women, but I preferred leaving that for the bedroom—not on the streets of New York.
When I learned she was a school teacher, that worsened my disposition. What man didn’t have a dirty teacher fantasy at one point in his life? I decided it was my turn to teach her a thing or two... or so I thought. Little did I know, Miss Prim-and-Proper would turn the tables on me.
She called me Mr. Kinky, and that was fine with me.
Lesson learned: Desire always trumps logic.

Craving Mr. Kinky is the fourth book to be released from A.M Madden and Joanne Schwehm's Mr. Wrong series. It's also the fourth book that I've seen and become really interested in after reading the blurb. So why I didn't read the three previous books I have no clue! But I'm glad I finally picked up one of these books and decided to read it because I loved this writing duo's story telling. Not only was the story very interesting but I thought it was written really well and every word kept sucking me in deeper and deeper.

The school teacher and the globe trotting photographer is not a couple that sounds like they belong together, but Dante and Cassie were actually perfect together. The sparks were flying from the second they met, even though it involved some screaming and arguing, I could tell that these characters were going to have my Kindle smoking. And, oh boy, I was not wrong about them.

There was a little angst thrown in to the mix that I really liked. It had me going crazy with wondering what would happen between Dante and Cassie, and in the end I thought it actually brought them closer together. I was so happy with their story and now I can't wait to go back and read all the other Mr. Wrongs.

Mixed Up Love Cover Reveal

MIXED UP LOVE
By Natasha Madison
Release Day: August 7th
Standalone

Hunter

When my business partner asked me to do him a favor, I had no idea he was sending me on a blind date his mother arranged for him. I walked in the bar, saw the woman drinking her third martini, and knew I was in for an eventful night.

After the unexpected second date, she didn't know my real name or who I really was. By that time, the lie was too far gone, and I wanted her too much to admit the truth.

Laney

It's not every day you find out your ex-boyfriend is engaged.

I shouldn't have agreed to the blind date. My mother insisted, and I wasn’t in any position to turn down a night out.

I will admit, I definitely shouldn't have ordered that fourth martini before said blind date even arrived.

The man turned out to be swoon worthy, handsome, condescending—a perfect distraction. Then I found out he was a liar.

I've never been in over my head to this degree.

Then again, I've never been in love.

From Here to You

From Here to You
Jamie McGuire
Crash & Burn Book 1
August 21, 2018

As Darby Dixon sits in a tiny Texas church bathroom on her wedding day holding a positive pregnancy test, she realizes that of all the bad decisions she's made in her life, marrying her abusive fiancé would be the worst. She's never been able to stand up for herself, but she'll sure as hell stand up for her baby. With just the cash she has on hand, she runs to get a bus ticket to the farthest place she can afford. Between her sheer grit and pageant-queen smile, she lands a job as a front desk clerk at the Colorado Springs Hotel. It's not a glamorous life, but she and her baby are all that matters.

A former Marine, Scott "Trex" Trexler has worked in the most dangerous, corrupt, war-torn places on earth. Now he finally has a chance to return to the last place he'd felt at peace--Colorado Springs, Colorado, to take a new job with the Cheyenne Mountain Complex, a top-secret military installation buried deep within the granite.

The moment Trex walks into the inn, Darby knows he's dangerous. There's no way she wants to get involved with another man who seems to be keeping way too many secrets. As charming and devastatingly gorgeous as Trex is, he clearly isn't telling her everything. But as wildfires rage on the mountain and Darby's ex-fiancé shows he isn't so willing to let her go, both she and Trex are soon to find out that what you don't know absolutely can hurt you.

I have no shame in admitting I love a good damsel in distress story, especially when her savior is a military man. So when I saw the blurb for Jamie McGuire's newest book you can bet I jumped at the chance to read it.

From Here to You is the story of Darby, a runaway bride who left her abusive fiance on her wedding day, and Trex, a retired Marine trying to start over with a new job in the one place he thinks will bring him peace. When he meets Darby he instantly know's that she's the one, his one true soul mate that he's been looking for his whole life and who he's measured every girl against, even though he hadn't met her yet. And he doesn't care that she comes with baggage most men would run from, she's his and he's willing to wait until he can prove it to her.

Honestly this was a really unique story in my opinion and for a lot of different reasons. Not only do we get a hero that is instantly all-in for the relationship while the heroine isn't, which doesn't happen too often in romance books, but we also get a really great way of storytelling where the main characters have different beliefs. I'm not a big fan of bringing religion into the books I read but I actually really enjoyed how it was done in this book. It wasn't forced at all but there were moments that the discussion of beliefs came up since Darby was a catholic and Trex was an atheist. I really liked that they didn't let it become a interference in their relationship and it made me love them even more that they could discuss that topic without it becoming a fight.

I just generally really liked and enjoyed this couple. I felt so many emotions for them both but Darby is the character that spoke to my heart the most. I admired her for having the strength to leave a bad situation, but I also hurt for her that she didn't feel like she deserved happiness. I was so happy that Trex came into her life and showed her that she didn't deserve to be punished for a past that wasn't her fault.

There's also a little bit of a mystery, at least for me since I'm obnoxiously curious, surrounding Trex's job. I am dying to find out what exactly is going on at the facility he works at so I hope that's something we'll learn in the upcoming books.

If you're a fan of this author you'll also be happy to see some of the Maddox brothers make an appearance in this book. I haven't read the book yet but I believe that Darby and Trex are actually characters you meet in Beautiful Burn. Either way, if you know these characters or not, I highly recommend their story. It was captivating, and beautiful, and a story I know I will be re-reading many times over.

LEFT: A Love Story

In this beautifully crafted novel from the author of the critically-acclaimed Two Sisters, comes the story of a woman who retreats into a fantasy world on New York City’s Upper West Side as she slowly loses her once whip-smart husband to dementia—perfect for fans of Still Alice.

When life falls apart, a little fantasy goes a long way…

It started as a dream vacation in Spain, with Fay and Paul Agarra enjoying all the delights of a European holiday. A respected New York City judge, Paul has always been the man Fay can rely on, no matter what. When he inexplicably disappears from a Barcelona street corner, Fay knows something is terribly wrong. Once reunited, Paul shrugs off the episode as a simple misunderstanding—but Fay suspects her almost perfect life has taken a dark and sudden turn.

Soon there are more signs that Paul is beginning to change. Bouts of forgetfulness lead to mistakes in the courtroom. Simple tasks cause unexplainable outbursts of anger. Fay’s worst suspicions are realized when she learns her husband—her rock, her love, her everything—is succumbing to the ravages of dementia.

As her husband transforms before her very eyes, Fay copes with her fears by retreating into a fantasy life filled with promise instead of pain. In Fay’s invented world, she imagines herself living a glamorous life free from heartache, with a handsome neighbor she barely knows rescuing her from a future she can’t accept.

Poignant and beautifully crafted, Left is an unforgettable tale about life’s aching uncertainties—and a woman who discovers that somewhere between hope and reality, an unexpected future will find its way forward.

EXCERPT

I’d pushed for sightseeing. Of course. Málaga—the birthplace of Picasso—is an artist’s dream. Color everywhere. The Persian blue Mediterranean Sea, butter yellow high-rises, marmalade rooftops, basil green mountains, air the color of honey. Paul would have been happy relaxing at the cottage, puzzling over words like “spork” in the New York Times crossword. Not me. I needed to see color the way other women needed to eat chocolate.
“Orange.” It’s what John—Paul’s teenage son—had answered when I’d asked him what color he wanted to paint his bedroom.
“Carrot, pumpkin, or cantaloupe?” My face was as inscrutable as Mona Lisa’s. Back then, John was in a Trainspotting phase. Peroxided hair, black turtlenecks, Lou Reed, heroin
chic. He liked to test us. In those early days, I was a young stepmother learning on the fly.
Stupidly, Paul and I bought a run-down duplex apartment on Manhattan’s Upper West Side when we were newlyweds. Marriage, I learned quickly, was hard enough without Sheetrock dust all over your clothes. Still, the moment I set foot in that space, I knew it was my home. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a bricked garden on the ground floor. And, its own special gift: a sunny nook for my easel. It was everything I ever wanted. Worth our sweat and tears.
Every other weekend, Paul’s son lived with us. When it came time to paint his room, he smirked when he replied,
“Carrot.”
Paul weighed in from behind a newspaper. “N.O.”
“It’s my room!” All teenage grimace and pimply flush, John stamped his foot like a child.
“In my apartment,” said Paul.
“Our apartment,” I gently reminded him. “And it’s John’s room. Why not let him pick the color? It’s only paint.”
Paul shot me a dark look; I helped him lighten up.
In the paint store, John chose a sickening nacho color. Paul opened his mouth to protest, but I silenced him with a tented brow. What did it matter? John was a good kid. A teenager, yes—moody, slouchy, occasionally reeking of hormonal funk—but tolerable. He chuckled when I said, “We should get two dogs named George and Ringo. You know, round out the band?” I loved him for not groaning. When John was with his dad, Paul, I’m sure he heard comments like that all the time.
Seriously, I could have done worse. Paul could have had a daughter.
“It’s not like he’s doing heroin,” I quietly told my brand-new husband.
In the screech of a Primal Scream CD, the three of us painted the walls—and ceiling!—of John’s bedroom. Afterward, sitting on the floor eating pizza, Paul’s son looked around and said, “This is the ugliest room I’ve ever seen.”
We all got a good laugh out of that.
John is a coder now. He lives in Boston with a beautiful wife and amazing daughter. Like I said, it was only paint.
“Fay is wise beyond my years.” It’s Paul’s favorite quip. Or was. Whenever he said it, he threw his head back and howled at his own cleverness. My husband’s laugh was an invitation to join his party. What I wouldn’t give to hear that sound one more time.
***
“Grilled sardines on the beach in El Palo?” I suggested on our cottage patio, in Spain’s afternoon light.
“Too many Speedos.”
“A trek up Gibralfaro?”
“So darn uphill.”
“How about a stroll along Calle Larios in central Málaga?”
“Watch every Latin lover ogle my wife?”
“Paul.”
“Spoon and fork!” he yelped, filling in the crossword. Then he set the puzzle aside and joined me in touring Málaga. Because he loved me.
I loved that city. It felt like warm bread to me. Irresistible. The sort of city a person could devour when she felt cold or empty.
Each day, Paul and I strolled the avenidas. Leisurely, like Spaniards. We left our New York pace at home. In the nave of La Manquita, we blessed ourselves with holy water and sat in dark pews to soak up the angelic rays slanting down from the heavenly stained glass windows. My husband lassoed me into the crook of his arm, pressed a kiss on my temple, and whispered, “Seeing you in this light is worth the trip.”
I grinned, blissful. Wrapping my arm around Paul’s soft waist, I quietly leaned in to kiss the baby skin under his chin, the spot I owned. My body fit so snugly into his I almost heard a click as we interlocked. In Paul Agarra’s devouring hug, the world and its perils were safely caged away.
Our life is a postcard, I thought, clueless. With a contented smile, I rested my cheek against my husband’s strong shoulder.
Love as it should be.
Not once, not ever, did I regret my choice. Not after our first anniversary or our last one: our twenty-second. In the early days of our marriage, I raised my right hand in the air and vowed, “I, Fay Agarra, do solemnly swear to allow my husband to be exactly who he is.” Paul promised, too. Our word to each other. We’d never expect the other to be older or younger. Paul wasn’t my dad; I wasn’t his midlife crisis. In the shower, Paul sang obscure blues songs about somebody doing somebody wrong. I danced the Macarena in our living
room. I added blond streaks to the front of my brown hair; Paul let his temples go peppery gray. I tolerated his Tom Selleck mustache (for a while); he patiently waited for me to blow-dry my “Rachel.”
After two miscarriages, my husband consoled an inconsolable me. He softly said, “Okay, love,” when I refused to try again. After my mother, my brother, my dad, I couldn’t bear to lose anyone else.
Men my age seemed like boys, heads bent over their cell phones as if the present moment was never riveting enough. Eyes roaming the other tables in a restaurant; brows cocked when a woman asked a waiter, “Do fries come with that?”
Paul is different. He’s a grown man. Words of commitment never get trapped behind overly bleached teeth.
I love you. You’re mine. We’re us.
Yeah, it shouldn’t have worked. Yet it did. Until it didn’t.

Ace of Hearts

Ace of Hearts
Cursed Ravens Book 1
Chantal Fernando
June 11, 2018

The New York Times bestselling author of the “swoonworthy and addicting” (Kim Karr, New York Times bestselling author) Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club series is back with more bad boy bikers in this first novel in the Cursed Ravens Motorcycle Club series.

Erin Dawson had the perfect life growing up in a perfect home with a perfect family. Her parents gave her and her sister everything a child could want. But after learning that the man she’s called “dad” her whole life isn’t actually her biological father, Erin is determined to find the man who is.

Armed with her original birth certificate, she finds her father, but begins questioning if her mom had been right all along to keep this information buried. It turns out he is the president of a motorcycle club, which could not be further from the life Erin leads. But, she’s determined to get to know the man who she gets her striking blue eyes from. Despite getting what she wants and finding her biological father, it’s the slightly older, much rougher but incredibly sexy biker Ace that catches Erin’s eye.

As the new “princess” of the Cursed Ravens, Erin is learning a whole new world, but her father has made it clear she is off limits. Will Ace follow his President’s orders or will he put his heart ahead of his duty?

.

Ace of Hearts is Chantal Fernando's first installment of her new series, The Cursed Ravens. The story brings her fans back to the MC world with this new club and follows Erin Dawson, the unknown princess of the MC.

I really liked Erin's character and thought that she was portrayed very realistically. She had a back bone and didn't back down from a fight, which I loved, but we still got to see those moments where she was unsure and hesitant to make waves while at the MC. I really liked that she was tough yet not in a unapproachable way.

Ace definitely took a backseat in this book but I still liked what we were able to learn about him. Even though he didn't get as much page time as Erin did I still felt like I knew him pretty well so I didn't mind that we didn't get a full backstory on him. He wasn't your typical biker manwhore and we actually got to see a lot of sweet times with him that made me love him. I liked the sexual tension he brought to the story when he was fighting the attraction to Erin and thought it added an extra dose of intrigue.

I love Ms. Fernando's MC books and this one is no different. I can't wait to see more from this MC and I'm already dying for a few characters to find their HEA. And as just a little tease to anyone that's a fan of the Wind Dragon MC series there was a character from it that popped up in this book that I think everyone will love.

Dirty Exes

Dirty Exes by Rachel Van Dyken

They’re serving up some red-hot revenge. A sizzling series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel van Dyken.

Blaire has never quite gotten over Jessie Beckett, the ex–NFL star whose kisses were hot enough to ignite the entire Eastern Seaboard. When he chose work over her, Blaire was left brokenhearted. Why else would she have married a skeezy two-timer, just to divorce him less than a year later?

Now Blaire is getting even by becoming one half of Dirty Exes, a PI firm fully committed to humiliating cheating jerks. If only the new jerk she’s been hired to uncover wasn’t Jessie Beckett himself.

Exposing Jessie isn’t going to be easy, especially when she still daydreams about his sexy smile. Further complicating matters is Colin, Jessie’s best friend. He’s gorgeous, a little bit cunning, and willing to help Blaire get the inside scoop on Jessie—for a price.

Now caught between two men—one totally right and the other totally wrong—Blaire will need to decide just how much she’s willing to risk…and whom she’s willing to risk it for.

Dirty Exes follows Blaire, Ian's sister from The Matchmaker's Playbook, as she makes it her life goal to expose the cheaters out there. Her PI firm dedicates itself to only one type of case, cheaters, and she'll do just about anything to catch them in the act. But her new assignment brings her face to face with Jessie, her ex who left her to chase his dream. It's not going to be easy to treat him like just another job, but luckily his best friend, Colin is more than willing to help her spy. One impossible job, two men she's attracted to, and someone is about to get exposed.

I absolutely adored this book. It had me cracking up at some of the situations Blaire found herself in and I just loved how fun it was. The book never lost that lightness it had and it kept a smile on my face the entire time I was reading.

For me, it wasn't really a surprise how the ending turned out but there were moments that had me second guessing myself. It was captivating and my need to know for sure how things would end up had me on the edge of my seat. And I was ridiculously happy with the ending, but that wasn't much of a shock since this is an RVD story and she never disappoints.

If you're looking for a fun, cute book then this is the one you want. I can't wait to see what else will happen in this series, though I have some very strong suspicions about that.
