A loss he can’t forget
Since losing his twin brother, Theo, in the line of duty, Case Taggart has felt dead inside. The former Navy SEAL has dedicated himself to his family and their business but he can’t help but feel stuck as he watches everyone else move on with their lives. Only meeting the beautiful Mia brings Case out of his misery, until he discovered she was just a reporter looking for a story. Betrayed, he turned his back on her and never looked back.
An attraction she can’t deny
Mia Danvers can’t get Case Taggart out of her head. Though they hadn’t been lovers, she’d felt more for him than for any man she’d ever met. Growing up in the shadow of her over-protective, older brothers, she felt free when she was with Case and she longs to feel that way again. She knows that if she can find any trace of Theo Taggart, Case will be forced to let her back into his life. Months of searching have finally paid off and she knows this is her second chance.

 A desperate search
Case and Mia follow the clues they hope will lead them to Theo and the villainous Hope McDonald, but the search becomes increasingly dangerous. From Dallas to South America and beyond, dark forces work against them and threaten their lives. With each step forward, Case and Mia are pulled closer together and forced to confront their mutual attraction. But when the truth about Theo is revealed, Case may have to make a choice between his brother and the only woman he’s ever loved.

EXCERPT 1

Case let his free hand stray down to Mia’s waist, enjoying the feel of her curves. “You’re a reporter, not a soldier. I’ve agreed to stand back and let you work. I’ve agreed to let you bring along Fain. Give me something here. I’m in charge of this operation.”

She sighed, a sexy sound. “I don’t want you to cut me out. I can’t stand being treated like I’m made of glass.”

She was so obviously made of warmth and sex. He lowered his head, lips hovering over her mouth. He’d waited so damn long. “I won’t cut you out. I promise. But I need to know you’ll obey me if things get dangerous.”

“It won’t,” she promised, her hands moving to his waist.

He wanted those hands all over his body. “But if it does…”

Her lips were so close. “I’ll follow your orders. You’re in charge if things get dangerous.”

That wasn’t good enough. “And here, Mia. I’m in charge when we play. You’re the sweet sub and I’m the dirty Dom who’s going to demand absolutely everything you have to give me. Tell me yes. Tell me we can play.”

“Yes, Case. Yes.”

He covered her mouth with his, devouring her like a starving man. He couldn’t be gentle. He needed her far too much.

Her arms wound around him and she held on, pressing her body to his. Her breasts flattened against his chest.

This was what he’d wanted that first night, the first moment he’d seen her. He’d wanted soft and submissive. She’d called to that dominant piece of him he hadn’t known existed. Before Mia had walked into his life, he’d enjoyed the lifestyle, but he hadn’t truly understood it. He hadn’t known what it meant to need to dominate a woman—not for mere sexual purposes or to feed his own ego. He needed to dominate her because she ruled his every thought, because he needed to be important to this one woman.

No. Case forced himself to stop. He pulled away from the drugging kisses she was giving him. He couldn’t go down that path. If he was going to take her, it would be on his terms, and that meant he wasn’t going to play the idiot. He wasn’t going to ask for more than she could give him. He wasn’t going to pretend this was some grand love. She wasn’t Charlotte and he wasn’t Ian. They didn’t get that forever thing.

But they could have this.

“What’s wrong?” She looked up at him and then started to pull away.

He wasn’t going to let that happen. He turned her around so his front nestled her back. “Nothing’s wrong. I want to feel you. Do you have any idea how long I’ve waited to touch you, Mia? How often I’ve thought about this?” His hands were on her waist and he brought them up slowly. “I want to memorize every inch of your skin, and do you know how I’m going to do it?”

She leaned back into him. “You’re going to touch me.”

He loved how breathless she was. No other woman ever responded as honestly to him as she did. He could trust her body even if he didn’t trust the rest of her. Oh, she wouldn’t mean to hurt him. He actually believed that, but she would choose her world. She would choose her family over him. He could keep her for a little while.

“What am I going to touch you with, princess?” He moved slowly, letting his hands find the warm skin under her shirt.

“Your hands.” Her head fell back against his chest. Without heels on she didn’t quite reach his shoulders. “I want your hands everywhere, Case. They feel so good.”

“I will touch you everywhere, but that’s not all I’ll do.” He was right under her breasts. This was one of the things D/s had taught him. Sex required discipline. Patience. Control. He wanted to shove her on that bed and force his dick inside her, but that wouldn’t make it good for her. This methodical arousal of every inch of her body would make her ready for him, would make her scream for him.
Might make her stay with him for a while.

Dominance Never Dies picks up where the last book left us. Basically flailing about trying to figure out what was going to happen between Mia and Case. The story opens up with Mia breaking into Case's place to let him know that she has new intel on the whereabouts of his brother. Case still isn't over the fact that Mia lied to him, and he isn't ready to forgive her. But when it comes to his brother he'll do anything to bring him home, even getting in bed with the enemy.

Mia is still heartbroken that Case won't forgive her, and she's also pissed. But not enough to keep him from the help he needs to hunt down his brother. Now that the two are back to working together they have to put the past hurt between them away and learn to forgive each other. Their feelings for each other never went away, though, and when they land right in the middle of danger they both realize just how much they care.

This book took my expectations and blew them out of the water, I knew it would be a good book, but I had no idea I would get so involved in it. The action that was involved in the book didn't shock me, but it was definitely more intense than the rest of the series. I don't know what Lexi Blake was doing different while writing this, but she needs to keep it up. Case and Mia's story had everything I could ask for with the Dom sexiness, the action packed fights, and the lovable sweet moments between the two.

There were a lot of different characters brought into the book, and it has me so damn curious about all of them. Mia's brothers I already knew were getting a spin off series but Drew Lawless is in this book enough that it has me begging for his story already. I love how Lexi can do such a wide range of characters without losing any of the importance from the main story. She also set up Ruthless, the first book in the spin off series with Mia's family, perfectly and I applaud her for being able to do that.

I can't get over how perfect Mia and Case were together. I've pretty much loved all of the couples that come from this series, but Case and Mia were something special. The fighting that would happen between them was this kind of foreplay almost, and when they finally fought it out in the bedroom, the chemistry sizzled right off of the pages. I have to say, right now, this is being listed as my favorite Masters and Mercenaries couple.

Bottom line, if you like a sexy Dom and a sassy sub, you need to pick up with book. Or even if you just like an action packed, fighting, book. I'm not lying when I say this story has it all, it's seriously perfect for everyone. It's highly recommended to be read as a series, so you have ten other books to read and love too!
