Shattered by You

Title: Shattered by You
Series: Tear Asunder Book 3
Author: Nashoda Rose
Publication Date: June 22, 2015

*Synopsis*
What started out as a deal quickly became a friendship that conquered monsters.

I killed, but I escaped hell.
Emotionless. Disconnected. Cold. A mannequin. It’s what I’d become in order to survive the years held in captivity. I was able to endure the abuse and devastating loss as long as I remained detached.

But he wouldn't let me.
Crisis, the bass guitarist in my brother’s rock band, Tear Asunder. He’s cocky, rude, a total man-whore. But the rock star has far more beneath the surface of his inked skin, and he’s determined to make me laugh again.
He made me a "deal", but really, it was blackmail.
His terms were simple. Until his playful honesty became the building blocks to something unexpected. Something strong enough to pull me from the eye of the storm.

Because even though I escaped years of abuse, it didn’t mean I was free.

For mature audiences only.

Shattered by You is written as a standalone, however, it is recommended you read the Tear Asunder books in order.

I. Loved. This! The story was so sweet and dealt with serious issues but in a way that those issues didn't take control of the book, and we still saw the love between all of the characters. I can't even think of what words to use to express how much I liked Crisis aka Vincent, so you will all just have to read this story.

Haven is the twin sister of Ream, lead guitarist for Tear Asunder. Her story isn't pretty and she survived a hell that many people won't understand but she doesn't let that stop her from living. She pushes herself to have a normal life and to let go of the numbness that she has felt for too many years. She was losing the battle until Crisis, her brothers bandmate, came along and decided to become her protector.

“You will break. One day that cool exterior you’re hiding behind will shatter. It has to. It has nowhere to go. And when it does happen, I intend to be there to help you pick up the pieces.”

This story was different than the first books in the series because, even though it still had dark elements, it didn't focus on that darkness. I couldn't get enough of Crisis and even now I just want more of this book because I never want to leave Crisis. He was so amazingly sweet in a hidden way. Yes, he had a history of being a player and using girls, but when he committed to Haven he went all in and left the girls and the playboy ways behind him.

It was really interesting to read the issues Haven had and then to see how Crisis was planning on helping her overcome them. I loved the fact that the story didn't only focus on Haven's past but actually mostly focused on Crisis and how it was for him to deal with loving someone and trying to help them when they don't always want it. That's what made me love this story so much, honestly.

This was yet another story that I've read this month where the main characters didn't get together until late into the book. The weird part is that it didn't bother me. Haven and Crisis weren't together, officially, but there was still so much love and romance in the story and that's what made it so great! It usually really annoys me when it takes so long for the characters to get together but with Crisis and Haven it didn't stop their story from being a five star read for me and I am already looking forward to re reading this story.
